Sueleen and Blonde are right.
"well, it certainly wasn't my intent to put down anyone."
It's the non-intentional put downs that are the most telling and the ones that actually permeate our culture and reinforce a system that is, in fact, classist and does in fact put people down and keep them there.
Another hint that the teen in line who cursed and said stupid things into his phone (a TEEN DID THAT? STOP THE PRESSES!) may be from a different economic class than those who were unintentionally or not put down in this thread? His mom took away all his electronics. ALL HIS ELECTRONICS.
I'm sure he's quoting his mother on that one.
"The comments that person said at Best Buy in no way indicate where he will end up on the economic ladder."
Probably running a television network.
And I hate everyone. You're all equal.
Taz just ignore them, they're constantly on the rag, so it's useless to even try and appease them. No matter what you say, they'll find fault in it.
For this particular argument, Namo has a bit of point. American's do have a habit of looking down on adults who do unskilled labor for a living.
And who wouldn't find fault in you telling someone that you would've killed yourself if you had a child like after you found out their mother died. Or called their father a smart man for disowning them. Yep, I certianly had to search for a reason to be offended.
I don't pay any attention to Namo Liv, but thanks.
Still, I do realize how what I said could have been taken wrong and I have no shame in admitting it.

"could have been taken wrong" indicates some shame in admitting it.
For someone who so haughtily declares himself the only "critical thinker" on the board I find it amusing that you rush to the defense those you so clearly look down upon.
Methinks you just want to push my buttons.
Push away bucko, it doesn't phase me in the least.
He will giggle if you push the right buttons.
sorry, just trying to get this thread out of the Heavy Heavy.

I've never declared myself the only critical thinker on the board, haughtily or not, but I would love it if you could provide me with a link to a post in which I did so because it means I must be having some sort of black out during which I posted the things you said. So I'll look forward to seeing that, including the haughtiness.
Also, I have never put down working class people, ever.
Sure you have. You just do it one on one on this board, instead of as a generalization.

And what does me telling austin i'd disown him if he was my son have to do with people overreacting to taz?
I just want to smack kids like that sometimes. He reminds me of an irritating little s**t I went to high school with. He was one of those people who pronounces Thespian "thesbian" and he thought it was very witty to constantly say "Hey, thesbian rhymes with lesbian. Does that mean you're a lesbian? Huh-huh-huh-huh." It took all my willpower to keep myself from slamming his face into a desk sometimes...

Oh dear, look what the cat drug in. "You just do it one on one on this board, instead of as a generalization."
Again, a link to any post in which I haughtily declare myself to be the only crticial thinker on this board, one on one or in generalization form (I don't really know what that means, but it means something to our Rathy), would back up your points nicely.

This reminds me of a conversation I had with a young man several years ago. I was in an area that was unfamiliar to me and was looking for a church where I could attend Sunday mass. I stopped this fellow (who was wearing earphones) and asked for directions. He relplied: "Just drive up that hill and you'll come to a church with a huge f____ing cross out front. That's the place."
i said, "What kind of cross?" and the kid realized his mistake.
How does a mother take away all of a kids electronics and FORGET his cell phone?
Wow, Namo, are you really that obtuse, or just playing?

Namo,
You sort of do.

Oh Rathy, let's not let our hair down and talk girl talk, okay?
Fact is, there are many critical thinkers on this board whose posts are a pleasure to read. Again, I await evidence that I have ever haughtily declared myself the only critical thinker on this board.
Well, it hasn't been 'haughtily'...
Read back, doll. I'm not tazber. I wasn't speaking of your constant refrain of what a critical thinker you are.
"Also, I have never put down working class people, ever."
That is to what I was referring.

Let's see, what's next?
"And you didn't say you were the only critical thinker on the board, but other than the fact that it wasn't said or said haughtily, you have definitely haughtily said, not in a generalization but one on one on this board, that you are the only critical thinker here."
You can't even read straight today. You're not coming off very well here.
