It all begins so innocently. First, you come here occasionally as a lurker to read the love thread about your favorite show or performer. The next thing you know, your profile is set up and you make a post from time to time. Suddenly, everything spirals completely out of control. You are popping on here every time you walk by the computer, you actually know what a sock puppet is, and between BWW and Facebook status updates you haven't left the house in 3 days...I realized I was deep in the throes of a BWW addiction last night when I actually DREAMT I was posting on here. Here's hoping the first step to recovery is admitting I have a problem. How did YOU realize you were a BWW junkie?
When I realized that I kept telling my friends about stuff that happened on BWW and had to explain background stuff for five minutes.
LOL!!!!
I just find that people are so smart and witty here, and it makes me lol......and that's a good thing!
I know, right? I was telling someone that my "real" friends were seeming mighty boring in comparison.

SO TRUE ! I'm kooky and I am a broadway worldaholic ........
I've been there. Back in the summer of 2004, I literally read EVERY THREAD on BOTH BOARDS (Broadway & Off-Topic were the only ones back then).
I'm recovered now.
I, much like ~FF~, once had a severely debilitating addiction to BWW. This was back when I first joined, in '05. Luckily (or not), I left for college in '06 and was slammed with such a heavy workload that I think I've been cured. But I'm obviously still posting here, so it still lures me in from time to time (though I do read a LOT more than I post lately).
If I weren't at work right now, I'd be posting on BWW.
If I knew any theatre fans in real life, perhaps I wouldn't be so freakin' dependent on you guys. But I don't, so you're stuck with me.

Word. Is there a 12-step program for this?
Hello, my name is Haley and I'm addicted to Braodwayworld.com and whenever I go on a computerless trip for over 2 days I actually have withdrawl symptoms equivalent of a alchoholic.

My thoughts too Stockard!
I think we're all primarily here because we love theatre, but theatre does tend to attract intelligent, eclectic and off-the-wall types hence smart and witty posts.
When I read some of the dross posted by more mundane minds on non-theatre sites I really can't be bothered to respond. But here I can't resist.

I actually don't think I have a problem. (Words of a true addict!!) I think it's perfectly healthy to speak to people who understand exactly what you're talking about and you're basically on the same wave length as others. Unlike my "real" life the people I do know...no offense to them of course...just aren't that bright when it comes to politics, world events and the Holy Grail: The Great White Way. You guys tend to keep me pretty sane. (Although an insane person rarely knows that they themselves are insane)
Hell all I can say, is yes I do OCCASIONALLY inject BWW into my veins, but at least I'm not Freebasing it like Richard Pryor and running down the street with my hair on fire!!!
Once I realized I was on here just as often as I was on Facebook, I realized I was addicted.
Yet I thoroughly (modern millie) enjoy the addiction. =D
