I recently bought the Activision simulation game, The Movies. It is very addicting and I played it every day. I always kept the CD in my computer. Well, I ended up taking the CD out of my computer to put something else in, and today, when I got back to school and wanted to play the game, I found out my computer cannot locate the file! Somehow the file got erased on the CD I think. I probably can restore it if I reinstall, but truthfully, it'll be a waste of time and I really want to call the company and demand a refund. I wasted 40 bucks on this crap and then on top of it I finally see it on sale for 25 bucks today.
Anyways, does anyone have a clue to what might've happened??? I swear I never even erased anything or played around with the files! It just...disappeared. I still have the Star Maker, but not the actual game itself. I'm assuming because I took the CD out of my computer...? Because I did not have any problems until I took it our and put it back in. Thanks.
Oh and I checked my Recycle Bin just in case, because I haven't emptied that, and nothing there...

I think those CDs would be protected from being erased. It was a purchased/"legal" one, right?

How can you reinstall it if you think the cd is erased?
I meant the contents are still on the CD (the setup), but the created file "TheMovies.exe" after installation was deleted from the computer.
I purchased it at Walmart.
Can't you reset your computer so it goes back to a certain date? I've done that before to recover lost material. I forget how to do it, but I believe you can choose to restore your computer to a certain date. You will loose all material you saved after that date though.
You can do a "system restore" on your computer to take it back to a certain date and time.
Go to Start. Control Panel. System. System Restore.
.
it's called SYSTEM RESTORE. you can go back to a restore point that reflects a date when you know the program was working. but keep in mind that this would also eliminate any installs or changes you've since then.
why not just re-install the exe program from your cd?
I don't want to start over again.
Okay, I probably won't do the system restore, but thanks for your guys help!
