Help - my ipod FROZE!
#0Help - my ipod FROZE!
Posted: 7/13/06 at 5:35pmI was listening to my ipod with it locked, it came to the end of a song -- and then stopped. I flipped the switch to unlock it - it won't come unlocked, and it's just FROZEN. The time on it hasn't changed since this happend about 20 minutes ago. I tried plugging it into the computer - it's not reading the battery charge or anything. Any ideas?

Posted: 7/13/06 at 5:37pm! This happened to me a while ago, and I ended up getting a new one. Before you waste money, though, you might want to go to the website and e-mail the tech center, or give them a call. As for what YOU can do, I've got nothing. I hope you figure something out.

Posted: 7/13/06 at 5:39pmIs it under warranty? Call the company and ask them about it.
"Interesting choice"

Those damn ipods.
When I first got mine, I was in love. More and more everyday it is begninng to become the one object I want to throw out the window. First I'd need to change its name from Victor to Stalin, but you get the picture.
As far as your problem..I have no idea. My iPod has frozen before but not when it was locked. Call those damn tech people. Tell them to make their 300 dollar iPods better.

I have no idea how it did it, but I held the menu/select button down for like 30 seconds and it finally unlocked. So weird. Now it APPEARS to be OK....but I guess time will tell...
And OF COURSE it's not under warranty any more, do you think it would stop working if Apple would have to pay for it? (Maybe I shouldn't talk so loud - it might get mad at me).

Posted: 7/13/06 at 5:48pmMy does this sometimes. Keep hold the middle button and the one below that at the same time, and it should reset.

This happened to me before. I got the iPod video, though and it never happend again. I had my new one for almost 6 months now and it has never been a hasle.
Do as I Love My Dictionary said. It should work, but if not, call a tech person. If you talk to them over the phone, they are usually more help.

Just trying to figure out how that happened while it was locked! That was the scary part - I thought the lock switch was jammed or something, in which case there was next to nothing I'd be able to do.
I plan to upgrade sooner or later anyway (I have a 20 gig and want the 60) but I'm not ready to do that just yet!

Posted: 7/13/06 at 6:02pmMine does that all the time. It freezes, or it just resets itself. It's starting to get annoying. I'm trying to save up, so I can buy a new one.

Posted: 7/13/06 at 8:35pmMy ipod is even trippier...one time it told me that it was ready to be disconnected, and then randomly switched to disk mode. I usually reset it somehow, or literally shake it up a bit and hope that it will work. It usually does. Although I keep wishing it would break...especially since I've had my mini for over a year.

Posted: 7/13/06 at 8:41pmI'm pretty sure that Select + Pause (or possibly Menu) is the reset function. I've had to do that once or twice with my iPod and actually haven't run into any long-term problems, so maybe it was just a glitch.

Posted: 7/13/06 at 10:13pmThe iPod website has a troubleshoot guide. If your iPod freezes, you are supposed to hold down the Menu and Select (the center one) keys at the same time, and it should reset.
