On July 6th-8th I'll going to NYC (seeing Mary Poppins, Tarzan and Legally Blonde). I need to know something. I'm planning on getting a window card from each of the shows, "stage-dooring" and getting them signed from their respectful shows. Now, when I fly back to Pittsburgh, will I be allowed to carry them on as my "Personal Item". We're putting everything else we get in NY and all of our clothing, bathroom stuff, etc. in our carry-ons (so we won't have to go through luggage stuff). Are the window cards to big to count as a "personal item"?
And no, that shouldn't be a problem. I've flown with windowcards before. You can take them on in the bag with cardboard, but I've found it much easier -- if your carry-on is big enough and has a flat back -- to just lay them along the bottom.
I can't get to it right now and I don't know the dimensions offhand, but it was a pretty standard-sized roll-on-wheels suitcase. The windowcard just fit, so I let it lay along the bottom and put my clothes, etc. on top.
