Its a rare gift, but I know its possible. Do you have the know-how and ability to pull videos from the internet and turn them into hard video files? If so, hit a sistah up! Thanks!

Eug, do you mean like from youtube? If so, and if you have Safari, it's incredibly easy. Open up the video and let it load completely. Then go up to the Window tab, click it and click Activity. This will open up a window with the titles of all the pages you have open. Find the page with the video on it and look at the files below it. Most of them will be really tiny, like 50 kilobytes or smaller, but there should be one really big one, like several megabytes. That's the file. If you right click command on it, it'll save as a flash file. If you need to convert it to another form, there are things you can download that'll do that.

Youtube usually show up in your TEMP internet files on explorer. If they don't then just google youtube downloader & there are a bunch of online programs you can use.

Simple in Firefox. Go to Tools > Add-ons

Then have look for any of a number of Firefox apps. I like "Fast Video Dowload" or "Download Helper" or "Easy YouTube Video Dowloader." You add them, click out of Firefox, click back in, and it's part of your Firefox options every time you're on YouTube.

But my favorite, if you have RealPlayer already is "Real Player Browser Record Plugin"--you add it into Firefox and it gives you the option to download and convert almost any video on the Internet.

They all make downloading YouTubes and converting them to MP4 or AVI relatively simple.

For youtube, you can also use keepvid.com

I use Video DownloadHelper. It's really easy to use- just click the logo and pick the file you want. (For youtube videos, it's either FLV or mp4.) It also works for pictures and audio files.

Another recommendation for DownloadHelper. Out of all the add ons I've had it works on the most amount of sites.

PJ - Where did you find the RealPlayer plugin? I did a search of Firefox add-ons and couldn't find it anywhere. Do you have to have RealPlayer Plus?

Actually, it's part of RealPlayer--when you install the new version, you're given the option "Enable browser download button []"

Then it just sort of sits on top of Firefox. Whenever you're watching a video you see a little horizontal box that says "Download this video"...click it and...voila!

I use Movavi. It works on Google Videos as well as YouTube, and some other sites that I don't remember right now. Great program. You can put in a whole list of URLs, click a button, and go to bed while it downloads.

There's also a program called TotalRecorder that has a Video Add-on, but you have to pay for it and, in my experience, it's not great. But it records flash video from ANY site, anywhere.
