i'd like Tom Welling to do it... but i've enjoyed Matthew Goode in the movies I've seen him in

I do not dislike Matthew. I fell in love with him in 'Chasing Liberty' with Many Moore(He was the best thing about that God Awful movie)I just think the others would be better choices in my opinion.

Well, Routh was incredibly lackluster and is considered part of the reason why SUPERMAN RETURNS was such a flop (it didn't even make back its original investment--at least in terms of domestic BO). And Welling would make it seem as if there's some sort of relationship between the film and SMALLVILLE (apart from the obvious one) which there isn't and I imagine Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan want this to look as fresh as possible since they've said the story is not based on a specific comic book.
Matthew Goode was fantastic in A SINGLE MAN, wouldn't mind seeing him in this movie.

A curiosity for me - wasn't Mr. Goode one of the things about WATCHMEN that was roundly criticized by the 'fan boys'? Seems an odd demographic to turn off from the get-go.

Routh was fine. It was a weak script, that's why it was a flop.

yeah I thought Routh was a pretty good Clark/Superman... but the movie.. yeesh... there was barely any action pieces and I really disliked the child subplot and Kate Bosworth who I thought was a really bad Lois Lane

SUPERMAN meets THE FRONT RUNNER?

Matthew Goode is the totally wrong type physically, the same as he was in Watchmen. He's lean as a beanpole. It's not that I don't like the actor, he just doesn't say Superman to me at all.

I was one of those people who thought Goode was miscast/terrible in Watchmen. Not as bad as Malin Ackerman as Silk Spectre II level of bad but there was something missing, and I think he is fine in everything else he has been in but I hope Routh comes back. It was like he was the only one who was following that Superman Returns was a quasi-sequel to the Donner (and Lester) films. Poor script, wasting Eva Marie Saint as Martha Kent and some generally deplorable miscasting (Bosworth was not the Lois Lane that I knew from Margot Kidder's fun interpretation).
There was a hot rumor that Jon Hamm (who has a supporting role in Snyder's Sucker Punch) was considered for the role but he denied it on Conan, citing that his age would not fit. Shame, because he was my dream Superman. There have been a lot of uneven rumors that Superman would be older but now there is this news that makes it sound like Smallville: The Movie.

i like jon hamm but i hated the rumors of an older superman... isn't superman supposed to be young looking to the point he doesn't age because he's from krypton? which makes me think... so when you're old on krypton and look like a senior citizen like in the first movie... are you over 100 or something?

It's not that Superman doesn't age - he does. He just ages slower than a human would.
I'm not sure how I feel about the idea of a reboot in the first place. The first film with Christopher Reeve is the reason we have comic book movies today.

Hey now, Jon Hamm is 39. Older Superman rumors were more about Goyer and Nolan wanted stray from the youthfulness of Reeve and Routh (both were in their mid-20s) in the previous films. Frankly, I just want to get past the stage of Lex Luthor as the chief villain for once.

Matthew Goode's Ozymandias was one of the worst performances of recent years, his total lack of acting ability rivals Keanu Reeves' and that Elmer Fudd accent of his only got funnier as the film progressed. "Youw schoolboy hewoics awe unnecessawy."
And that ridiculous turn as Jim in A SINGLE MAN, my God. There's just no way anybody would be sorry over that guy's death in a truck accident.

Superman is being rebooted again? We need The Hulk rebooted soon so he can catch up! Then we can start over with a whole new vision for Batman.

Papa you've been wrong about so many things but this is the worst. I'd forgive you for Sarah Palin if you'd admit that movie stunk like last Christmas' Turkey.

I don't know, but I liked Superman Returns too. I also liked Routh quite a bit. However, I thought Kate Bosworth was horrid as Lois Lane.

They should stop calling them "re-boots" and start calling them "do-overs".

What's with the damn Brits taking over our superheroes. First Spider-Man, now this. At least Captain America is still, well, American.
