... for Blance Elizabeth Devareux.
"Yes, I CAN hold on to this vain narcassatic self-image that I'm STILL in my 40s! All you need to do is eat right, exercise, and live with women who LOOK A LOT OLDER THAN YOU DO!!!"
C'mon, post your appreciation for Our Favorite Golden Girl!

That quote is actually a flub in the show. On an earlier episode when Blanche's old Nanny (Ruby Dee) comes to visit, she gets mad at Blanche and calls her out by her full name "Blache Marie Hallingsworth"
No mention of the name Marie.

Blanche Devereaux is the best Golden Girl!
And I have to see WICKED soon, just to see Blanche... I mean, Rue McClanahan as Madame Morrible... Exciting!!

Blanche: "He is so sophisticated and charming and rich and handsome. He fairly screams Blanche. At least he will when I'm through with him."

I love the episode where Blanche and Rose are dressed up as nuns after doing The Sound of Music and when they get home a real priest is there!!!!!!
Also, the one where Blanche uses her grand-daughter to get a date with a younger man!!!!!! Funny stuff!!!!!!
Also, I think that she might have been the best Golden Girl, because it was her best work on TV. Bea Arthur was best in Maude and Betty White as Sue Ellen Niven in The Mary Tyler Moore Show(however, both were great in The Golden Girls!!!!!!). However, Rue was her best on the Golden Girls....believe me Aunt Fran, from Momma's family doesn't beat Blanche!!!!!! I guess you could also say that it was Estelle Getty's best TV work too......

Me FIRST, Rath!
Will they let a gentleman with an "alternative sexual lifestyle" visit the Ladies' Room?

MTVMANN:
(I LOVE the Nuns' Episode as well!!!)
Dorothy: There's a HUGE tropical storm coming this way--we could be trapped together for DAYS!!!
Blanche (dressed as Nun): Oh, Jesus!
[Everyone STARES at a "nun" taking the Lord's Name in Vain]
Blanche (recovers): Jesus, PLEASE stand over us and protect us in this hour of need!!!
All: Amen!

And MA--Rue McClanhan is from OKLAHOMA?
Why, that's right next door to Texas! We're neighbors!

Note of Trivia: (Hey, you knew it was comin'!)
When the first pilot of "The Golden Girls" was shot, Rue McClanhan was cast as ROSE and Betty White was cast as Blanche.
BOTH were bored with their assignments--McClanahan thought she was reclycling the character 'Fran' she had just played on MAMA'S FAMILY and White thought 'Blanche' was just 'Sue Anne Nivens'--with a Southern Accent.
So somebody came up with the brilliant idea of the two SWITCHING roles--and they stumbled upon the perfect casting for the show.
