Here's your hat, what's your hurry?

Rumour hath it that a major star of a big West End musical was so unpopular with the rest of the cast, that when their contract recently expired the company took up a collection to buy a farewell gift... and came up with the grand total of six pounds and forty pence between them.

I thought this was going to be a "tribute" to the recent mass exodus of posters.

Who? Who?? Who??? Don't leave us in suspense.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

But there were no other cast members in the London production of "Elaine Stritch: At Liberty"

And there's no WAY Stritch would come up with so hefty a sum for a gift anyway, even for herself.

LOL!!!!!!!!!

Actually, I do know of a couple of generous things that Stritch has done. So she's not a complete Scrooge.

Was it Nathan Lane? Or was it when David Soul left Springer?

Bullsh!t! Really? God I don't know where these Nathan storys come from. He has been nothing but nice to me on several different occasions.

See now that would have been my first guess, but you said "when their contract recently expired." I thought he left before his contract was up.

That's too bad. I wonder if he was upset with the situations that London presented. I imagine that the 6 pounds came from Lee. Hoping for the cash cow of Mouse Hunt 2.

They should be thankful for him, a pain or not. Without him they would have been out of a job.

"A couple of things in what, 78 years?" LOL. One of these days, I'm going to write my autobiography. At one point in my life, I had to carry a brown paper bag containing insulin to Stritch. In reflecting on my life, I've often looked back at that moment and wondered "Have I always made choices that were advantageous to the theater world?" "Could a guy ever identify with Regina in the ending of "The Little Foxes?"

Perhaps they would have preferred that.

Oh, yeah, that makes a hell of a lot of sense, Rath. Show us who that person is and I'll show you an even bigger mascochist than you.

I know most people on this board have to believe that casts of shows are all best friends ("the love between Kristen and Idina was so clear to anybody sitting in the first ten rows of Kristen's last performance..."; "I doubt Idina will sue because I am sure she has grown close to the producers of Wicked") and by extension, friends of yours. But it's work. A job with bosses and colleagues a person may or may not like. Like I'm SURE many colleagues of, say, Rath's are not her very best friend in the known universe. For instance.

Namo, someday perhaps your sense of humor will return. I remember when you had one...

Better to have had a sense of humor and lost it than to never have had one at all Rath. That must be really hard.

Now the asterisk rule, does that apply when you are directly talking about someone or is the "references" thing just implied? Because I see several posts sorely missing asterisks here...

Can't we bring this post back to it's original topic. The delightful Elaine Stritch. Or something.

re: Here's your hat, what's your hurry?

I think Nathan Lane is the original topic. But I have never seen him and Elaine Stritch in the same room, so who knows.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

I have, pop, and Stritch is taller. That's how you tell them apart.
