NEW YORK (CNN) – Sen. Hillary Clinton is poised to deliver a message Tuesday "that she will do whatever it takes" to put a Democrat in the White House — a message that Barack Obama insiders say indicates she would accept an offer to be Obama's running mate if asked.
"In her speech tomorrow night, she will convey the message that first and foremost she is committed to Democrats winning in November and will do whatever she's asked to do," a close friend and adviser of the former first lady, who speaks with her regularly and is privy to her deliberations, told CNN Monday.
"She will do whatever it takes to bring the party together to win and whatever is asked of her to make sure the Republicans are defeated."
That message has been conveyed to the Obama campaign via informal channels, according to Obama insiders who said the message is a signal that she would be willing to serve as his vice president.
Both the Clinton and Obama campaigns told CNN that there have been no formal discussions between the campaigns.
Obama insiders are split over whether considering Clinton to be on the ticket is a good idea.

Good for her. I still think it's a bad sign that Bill said yesterday was his last day campaigning.
Well that's excellent news!
I hope she means this unlike the 2004 election.
I propose that we all ignore any negative posts in this thread.
I would support having Hillary on the ticket. I think it would show tremendous integrity on both their parts in setting aside any residual negative feelings from the primary for the sake of party unity, compromise and the things that are important to the future of our country that they both believe in.
No circular, repetitive arguments! What Hillary says tonight and how Barack declares victory will set the tone for the next 5 months of campaigning.
They will be working together, so we should too.
That mean you too, Liver-puddly-cuddly-wuddly.
Thank you, PJ. I agree madbrian.
I think tonite is going to change everything. I think it will be a historic night.
Despite everything, I hope Hillary is on the ticket. That would be amazing!
I think tonight will be historic and now it's time to unite as a party to work for the common good
Various news sites are reporting that both Ickes and McAuliffe are indicating that the Clinton campaign will NOT be contesting the Florida/Michigan decision to the credentailly committee.

Although it's driving me crazy, it's refreshing that she hasn't told media what she'll be saying. It will be nice to have "breaking news" actually be, well, news.
She deserves nothing less.
Put her on the ticket, we'll all dance at Erminngarde's wedding.
There is lots of talk going on about the fact that Obama and Clinton spoke to each other on Sunday night. That ticket would be very exciting, and while the last couple of months have made it hard to believe that it would ever happen, I'm starting to have hope again. Its hard to know what Senator Clinton plans on doing tonight, some reports say she'll concede, others say shes going all the way to the convention, no one knows really. I do know that she's much too smart to let this drag on too much longer, and I feel in my gut that it'll be over soon and we'll have a nominee.
Clinton is the only one who should get to decide what she says tonight. While i'm hoping she will concede soon, she has absolutely and most certainly earned her right to concede on her own terms. If not tonight, then tomorrow, or later in the week. Not until Senator Obama has the magic number. She has earned that, and has been a very strong competitor and formidable candidate. Sure she's driven me crazy many times, but I'd still vote for her... whether she was running for President or was on the ticket as VP.
I also read a very exciting interview recently where Senator Obama said that if he won the nomination, he would be asking Senator Clinton for a meeting very soon, her choice of place and time.
Exciting stuff... tonight is going to be a huge night for all democrats.

CubanPablo finally made his way back home...yippee!
lol. and i'm much less critical of Senator Clinton these days. wouldnt you know it, the old bat won me over a bit the last few weeks. even if she's still as stubborn as ever!
i'm just glad they resolved michigan and florida...
I'm not huge fans of hers or Obamas. I do like their brands, I can to without some of the tactics though.
I really want her on this ticket though. As superficial as it sounds (and the whole thing is anyway) we need to change the face of politics in this country. Plus it's the right thing to do. I didn't like Kerry or Gore's choices, at least with Clinton she was voted on and vetted through this process. Cheney is proof a Vice President is just as important as the president.
Well I just think she's earned it... same way Obama would have earned it if the numbers were reversed... but who knows i guess.
I don't know if "earned" is the word for either of them, but right now it feels to me like the most Democratic thing to do.
well i say earned... :)
