"I voted for her and think she would have made an outstanding president but the inescapable fact is, she ran a lousy campaign. While the neanderthal demographic who didn't like the idea of a woman running the country was no doubt a factor, they were also there in 2008 and even less thrilled with the idea of a black man running the country. Obama overcame that and Hillary could have as well."

I voted for her as well and suggest that the Hillary-hate had dissipated until the Benghazi manufactured scandal took root and email-gate permanently tarnished her reputation as a viable national candidate. The edge that Obama held over Hillary with voters was that his political resume was wafer-thin which didn't give his opponents much ammunition to attack him with. After being drubbed by him and playing the dutiful part of Sec of State, Hillary rebooted her campaign yet still bore the cross of hubby Bill while showing scar tissue from her earlier nomination loss.

Unlike the GOP, the Dems don't seem to reward seniority in their nomination process so the onus was on Hillary to avoid the look of damaged goods and that of a woman forced to ride the coattails of more successful men. She nearly pulled it off but gave into political propriety instead of striking fear in the hearts of the GOP nominees by offing Bernie before he knew what had hit him. If Hillary had sewn up the nomination much earlier the general election would have had a completely different complexion. Trump of all people was able to characterize her as "weak" and "morally duplicitous" due to both her inability to shut down Sanders early on and email gate. His attitude was "perhaps I"m not presidential yet but she sure as hell ain't and never will be". And he wasn't afraid to suggest that to her face during a televised presidential debate. His strength, according to his base, is his willingness to say out loud what true politicos utter behind closed doors.

I also don't think that Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Donna Brazile did her any favors. I'd love to see a woman elected potus in my lifetime but the geriatric sisterhood alone cannot get one of their own elected. After white nationalists dared to come out of hiding to support their own p... grabber in Chief, is there any one who still denies that misogyny is alive and well?

If some natural disaster came and selectively killed Trump supporters, I'd start believing in God. But that's not how these things work. They kill good people and bad people. This is true anywhere - even in the Trumpiest of Trump country - but, as Mister Matt points out, it's particularly nonsensical to pick on Houston, which elected an LGBT Democrat as its mayor three times.

Sometimes redundancy can be annoying.
