Courtney Love has the last laugh...Salon.com article

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

That's good because Chuck Klosterman wrote the meanest/funniest Tweet: "Brett Somers died of cancer in 2007 but not before recording the vocals for the new Hole album."

"45-year-old rocker taking her last stand at a comeback"

Not even close. She's got a half-dozen comebacks yet to come, along with probably 4 or 5 "farewells."

Speaking of Klosterman, he wrote a fantastic column in the current Spin (25th anniversary) about Beck and how Loser has become such an influential song in terms of embodying the 90s ethos for hipsters.

I adore Courtney. "America's Sweetheart" is one of my Top 5 albums of all time. I listen to it non-stop. She is brilliant. She is also troubled, as most geniuses are. I am going to pick up the new CD at Best Buy today. It's on sale for 7.99. I can't wait.

Great article Taz! He mentions three 90's songs: Loser, Creep and teen Spirit. I remember vividly when each of those records broke- EVERYONE thought Creep and Loser were the work of one hit wonders and Nirvana had a long and successful career ahead.

I must say I love Creep. I know everyone bows at the altar of Kid A era Radiohead, but I have always liked their early stuff much better.

i am enjoying the Hole CD, but it definitely will take some listening. It isn't as hard rocking as previous Hole outings and not even close to "America's Sweetheart". She definitely is working the Stevie Nicks voice though.

Slant's review (Can you tell I love me some Slant?)

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

I'll tell you what takes getting used to is Courtney focused and pretty much staying in place and not straddling the monitor, flashing her panties, and diving into the audience.

If only Madonna had considered growing up in performance.
