A few years back, I bought A Muppet Family Christmas on DVD from a company based out of Canada (via Amazon) and it was so great to watch it again.
I second (or third) Christmas Eve on Sesame Street!
Besty, it occasionally looks like outtakes from "The Invisible Man."
Thanks for making me LOL, truly, Reg.
I will have to check it out. Hell, with 1,700 (guilty as charged) DVDs and BDs, (yes, a single TV show counts as ONE title with me), I will have to buy it!
Sally the Canadian Muppet Christmas has some cuts too
Besty do you mean you count wach TV episodes youonw on DVD as a DVD?
I think part of the cutting of A Muppet Family Christmas was due to copyright stuff on a couple of songs. I know the part with Fozzie and the snowman singing outside was cut. I think the song was Sleigh Ride? I forget the other things that were cut.

IMPORTANT NEWS FLASH!! NBC will broadcast "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol" Saturday December 22 at 8 pm (7 Central)!
It's nice that the last post was about "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol", because my two cents worth is about two other Christmas specials with scores by Jule Styne and Bob Merrill.
I have an old VHS tape of "The Dangerous Christmas of Little Red Riding Hood" starring Liza Minelli and Cyril Ritchard that I love! I'm not sure when it was done, but they make a joke about the song "People" in it. It's not all that good and very cheesy (the special guest stars are Vic Damone and the justifiably forgotten British pop band The Animals), but I love it! As far as I know, it is not on DVD and not on YouTube escept for one cut from the soundtrack album, "I'm Naive" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jST8sa-MaJE (which later got recycled into the revised national tour of "Sugar") and a clip of Liza and Cyril singing "I Feel So Christmasy" with LOUSY sound quality http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKm1zRywsuI (Which I love. Old and new showbusiness complimenting each other perfectly!)
The other was "The Night the Animals Talked" with lyrics by Sammy Cahn. Which I remember seeing on ABC way back when. It is on YouTube, but I haven't bothered watching all of it. It is HEAVILY Christian. I'm surprised that it's not shown on religious television stations.
Never heard The Night the Animals Talk but I have the Liza one on DVD. I *love* it, lol. I believe it's from '65 or '66--my DVD doesn't say. It seems to somehow have become public domain, as a few labels have it out and mine has little info (but cost 5 bucks).
Is yours in B&W? It was shown in colour, but like Evening Primrose from the same era, I'm guessing it was only saved on B&W kinescope.
And how dare you claim The Animals are forgotten! :P Their version of House of the Rising Son is *the* definitive version, and their similarly sounding (but self written) hit Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood still shows up on TV and movies a lot...
Ding a ling! I feel so Christmas-ey!
LIZA
(Oh, I just learned that Misunderstood was originally written for Nina Simone... lol Oh well, you still hear The Animals' version more)
(and looking at that clip, it sure was low budget. For a mid 60s TV special, it's filmed more like an early 50s one... and seems to have had one rehearsal. Love it)
I guess it was OK for Grandma to be played in drag as long as she wore suit paints and dress men's shoes under the night dress? Liza hit the cocaine prior to going in front of camera?
Grandma is the Big Bad Wolf silly!
(And yes, I think she had just gone through mama's medicine cabinet)
Ah, my bad. That makes sense then. I have never seen it.
I thought you may have guesed by his lyrics about how delicious she would be, etc--then again they are Bob Merrill lyrics, so not they could mean anything... :P
Besty do you mean you count wach TV episodes youonw on DVD as a DVD?
I'm not sure what you were trying to say here, Eric, but what I was trying to say (and not very well) was that I count one series (aka Twilight Zone, Star Trek, Buffy) as one entry (or title) on my list. I don't count all the episodes or seasons individually. And I still have 1,700 titles as of now, especially after Black Friday week. Oy. I'm my own library.
Oh thank God--I thought you were going a bit overboard counting like Buffy Season 2 as 22 titles... LOL Well that's more impressive! I have close to ten thousand CDs (but that's from when I was ten or so and would spend every single dollar I had from presents or allowances on CDs), but don't think more than 400 or so DVDs/BluRays
"A Very Brady Christmas" is being rebroadcast on amcfamily at midnight on 12/21 for those who missed it.
