Yes Maureen O'Hara is alive and well and living in Cork actually, where I go to college. She made an appearance at a film festival here last year and still does occasional interviews. For 90, she looks great too!
Has Olivia de Havilland or Joan Fontaine won an honorary Oscar? I know they've both won competitively.

Neither sister has been given an honorary Oscar, but Olivia has won Best Actress twice (out of five nominations) for To Each His Own and The Heiress. Joan has won Best Actress once (out of three nominations) for Suspicion.

By the way, this just goes to show you how BAD the press coverage of this has been. They have all mentioned James Earl Jones and Oprah Winfrey as recipients of this years special Oscars.
But they are also honoring legendary makeup artist Dick Smith with a lifetime achievement award. He may not be a household name to most of you, but he has created some of the most incredible film makeup in history, and most of it long before they added a competitive category for Best Makeup.
He is responsible for this:
And this:
And this:
And this:
... just to name a few. He is definitely worthy of this award. Congratulations to makeup legend Dick Smith!

I think honorary Oscars are the perfect opportunity to hand out the awards actually based on merit rather than the usual popularity contest (okay, sometimes they overlap), so it's great to see the likes of Dick Smith recognized.
I'd rather them awarded during the actual ceremony though - after all those years and her 1996 disappointment I felt Lauren Bacall was cheated out of her long-awaited moment!

Mia Farrow is another one I think should be honored, either with a regular honor (oxymoron?) or the humanitarian one...or both!
Here's an interesting article that I largely agree with

Hey best12, did you see that Doris Day is releasing a new album next month? I just found out today!
Here's a nice radio interview recorded just last week with Michael Ball for BBC...a song from the new record begins at about 1.17.30 followed by the interview.

star of a hugely popular string of "Tammy" movies.
Reynolds was only in the first one. Sandra Dee took over the role for "Tammy Tell me True" and "Tammy and the Doctor".
Doris Day? She was never that great an actress. Come on. She was OK in a few films but that does not justify a Lifetime Achievement Award.
I suspect you have never seen Julie, Love Me or Leave Me, The Man Who Knew Too Much, or any number of Doris Day films.
