^Me too. I love the anti-condoms music video with the Christian hair band.

Worse than the Big Bang misconception is the belief evolution's sole meaning is men came from monkeys. The "Evolution is a Lie!" bumper stickers especially make me consider vandalism. Or at the very least, a highlighted dictionary on the windshield.

I didn't stop believing in god until well into my adulthood. I was raised Catholic and took all that crap to heart (especially the burning eternally in hell part), but I never remember a conflict between evolution and Christianity. I still don't. I know plenty of moderately religious folk who don't have a conflict with science. Are there none in Tennessee?

I think not having the internet back then made it easier to not really think there were that many of these whackjobs out there - and I lived in the DEEP south for a while when I was a kid, so I'm seen some backward religious nitwits, but it's really scary.

I think about the textbook brouhaha in Texas and how maybe in a couple of generations a good portion of young adults (in not only Texas but in every place that the books that Texas are going to school our youth) are going to believe - because they were taught in PUBLIC SCHOOL - that Darwin was a quack, that slavery really wasn't all that bad, and god knows what else. Sometimes I think we really are headed up for Margret Atwood styled dystopia.

I don't have kids, so while I certainly give a crap about the implications, but I'm not immediately affected by this. But it's crazy to me.

Know what else is crazy to me? I know a lot of good, decent people who claim to believe in religion, usually Christianity, who can't seem to be able to ... if not change this crazy asses minds, at least drown them out for a while, you know? They're not gonna listen to me. I don't believe in God and I live with the stain of homosexuality (and I LOVE it!).

I guess I just feel like when I was growing up, I believed that if not MOST then at least a plurality of people's religions beliefs were well, sane, relatively speaking. People go to church, they still eat shellfish and have sex out of wedlock, and can divorce themselves from the fact that 90% of their life is in direct conflict with their so-called religion.

Eh, my moderately religious friends and probably the agnostics, too, are really just a good critical thought from finally shaking religion altogether. I wish they'd all just hurry up, you know?

Because sh*t like this would finally stop happening. I really and truly do. It's not up to atheists. If your god really is a god of love, why can't you get Him to shut these people the eff up?

Love always,

Maybe we need to consult with Spider-Man on this issue!
