SO proud of my home state!

This is one of those things that leaves me stammering nonsense.
There's just too much to address, with people who have no foundation upon which to form any understanding.
I just hope they're all so afraid of the big, bad, secular world that they stay in Tennessee.
Do any of you even know why Dayton, TN, was chosen for this segment? If you don't, google it.
For those who don't care to google it, Dayton, TN was the site of the Scopes Trial.

"Now I see the importance of history
Why people be in the mess that they be
Many journeys to freedom made in vain
By brothers on the corner playin ghetto games
I ask you Lord why you enlightened me
Without the enlightment of all my folks
He said cuz I set myself on a quest for truth
And He was there to quench my thirst
But I am still thirsty...
The Lord allowed me to drink some more
He said what I am searchin for are
The answers to all which are in front of me
The ultimate truth started to get blurry
For some strange reason it had to be
It was all a dream about Tennessee"
Apparently, Tennessee was home to the Scopes Trial, where a teacher broke the law by teaching the Theory of Evolution.
Oops, apparently reposted. You learn something every day.

I'm trying to figure out how much is blind ignorance, and how much is willful ignorance.
I love that the girl says that evolution is not even a theory because it hasn't been proven. Uhh, the very definition of a theory is something that hasn't been proven. See, Mr. Teacher, some ideas ARE trash!
I've heard of this documentary that was produced by Brits. What's the name of it? It escapes me at the moment, but I would like to track it down.
There is more at fault here than the evolution/creation nonsense. I'm sure I don't need to remind educators are crippled by far greater factors, especially since the "no child left behind" bull. I won't even get into how it is not worth them to challenge students as they aren't paid enough and have little respect paid to them. Oh, woeful American education system.

:/ At least it's not my Dayton, I guess.

That's only the definition of a theory as used in general conversation, as a synonym for guess or supposition. Scientific theory is different. It's something that has been proven, to a certain extent.
The "Theory of Evolution" is not a process to prove evolution. Evolution is a proven scientific fact. We've watched and recorded it in action. The theory is about studying and discovering the process of how it works.
The best part is, didn't white people technically evolve from African-American people? As the first humans were in Africa?
^Yeah, I was going to post the same thing, Schmerg. You know the racist hick would flip out if someone pointed that out to him.
I couldn't remember where the Scopes trial was exactly, but I wondered if there was that connection as I watched. Forget evolution- these people have proven devolution.

Small nit pic, but white people didn't evolve from African Americans, but from Africans.
Now come on ya'll, haven't you seen pictures of Adam an Eve? They were White! So the first people no matter whether they evolved or were just plopped here by God were white! Geesh! Has no one learned you nuthin?
His comment doesn't even make sense from the perspective of his religion- if everyone came from white Adam and Eve, black people would have had evolve from white people.
Evolution is not proven fully. Neither is a supernatural being that created everything on the earth. No one really knows if God's word via the bible is not just made up, or if there is a god at all. It's blind faith really.

Evolution isn't the Big Bang theory.
Evolution is about as proven as it ever can or will be. We might discover more examples with further 'in-between' stages of evolution...but essentially the evidence is there already. It clearly happens.
I can understand people believing in a God of some sort, but I certainly can't fathom the ignorance in believing the Bible as fact. The information, the proof, is right there in front of them but the fingers are in the ears with their eyes closed like stubborn children refusing to educate themselves in something they obviously know nothing about.
(British) Channel 4 did an amazing series on the anatomies of 'Natures Giants' and one episode focused on dissecting a gigantic python, and they discovered a leg-like appendage in its belly. I'm not good with the technicalities, but essentially they explained how this was undeniable evidence that this snake evolved from a four legged amphibian. Very interesting stuff.

Evolution is not proven fully.
Yes it is. One needs to only look back two generations to find evidence of evolution.
You seem to be confusing it with the Big Bang Theory, and other theories on how the universe came into existence.
But, evolution (by natural selection) is a certainty.
