This is a kind of fun way to see how many earths it would take to support the entire world population if everyone lived your lifestyle.
I came in at 4.2 earths at first, but I went back and revised a few things I could easily change and got down to 3.7.
What is your ecological footprint?

5.1 -- I'm more earthy than you, papa!
It's because I fly so much. But if I didn't, I wouldn't have a job. Then, I'd lose my apartment and electricity and then be down to 0.5 earths.

5.1 also, and I am sure that it has to do with the flying I have to do for work.

It's interesting to me how there are questions on there that most would take for granted - like electricity in the home, for example. I think we forget how spoiled we are.
And we here in SoCal are amongst the worst offenders

The lowest I can get it to go down to is 2.4 earths and that's if I go vegan, don't ever use a vehicle of any kind, and do not use electricity.

I noticed that.
Just out of curiosity, I put everything as low as possible, including no electricity, no running water and cramming 7 people into a 500 sf home, no travel, and no animal products -- and it's still at 2.3.
We're screwed.
addy, changing my flying alone took me down an entire earth.

I would imagine the base level is geared around current population numbers - which are generally accepted as unsustainable.
Contrary to what some might think who believe we are given 'dominion' over this rock.

It must be the flying.
I got it down to 4.8, by wearing all black, cutting my hair short and letting it go grey, only riding a bicycle and having roommates move in...

PalJoey, I think we have to plan more picnics in the park drinking wine!
#13how many earths does it take?
Posted: 5/1/08 at 5:04pmI only got 3.2 earths. But hopefully, someday, I'll have the financial resources to consume a lot more.

"But who cares?!"
I think how much people care is partially generational. I am young and the majority of Millenials who are coming of age care much more deeply about the environment than the majority of Gen-Xers and Baby Boomers.
