How to be a Sock Puppet

Really people, it's not hard. Most people on the board are fairly anonymous. I don't know much about the "real" people behind more than a handful of screen names. But some of you feel the need to create ANOTHER alter-ego (for some reason) and you ALL make the same stupid mistakes over and over.

1) Create your puppet now. Really. I know you don't need it now, but do it. Let it stew a few weeks (or better yet, months) before you use it.

2) Don't start a "Hi I'm new here!" thread. No one but sock puppets do that.

3) In fact, try not to start any threads. You can say everything you need to say responding to other people's threads.

4) Don't react when called a Sock Puppet. "Yeah, whatever" is the usual response of people who have been falsely accused. "What? I am NOT a suck puppet! My name is Emily Deiffenbacher of Dayton Ohio where I run a second hand clothing store with my puppy Eleanor and my step-brother Fiergus" is something only a Sock Puppet would say.

5) Post once or twice a day for the first 4 weeks. Stick to the main board.

6) NOW you can go wild.

See how easy that was?

And don't worry sock puppet-loathers. They won't follow my advice. They can't. Sock puppets have fists where their brains should be, I think.

re: How to be a Sock Puppet

See I don't hate sock puppets. I just hate to see them make the same mistakes over and over.

re: How to be a Sock Puppet

They make the same mistakes over and over again because they are the same people over and over again.

"they are the same people over and over again."

So are the people that obsess about them.

Over and over . . .

What the hell, why do all the sockpuppets seem to live in my neck of the woods?

So are the people that obsess about them.

And so are the people who obsess over the people they say are obsessive.

Lambchop scared the CRAP out of me when I was a kid. I don't have the slightest idea why, but there was something menacing about that little bugger.

re: How to be a Sock Puppet

I don't think anyone sets out to be a sock puppet. It's more a byproduct of depression and anger and frustration...ummmm, so I've been told.
