Howl's Moving Castle - Seattle Musical

There was a lot of body-swap / disguise-related magic, and I didn't find it all that clear which character was being referred to when certain names were used. It got to the point where I became confused and stopped caring about the various relationships between all the 'fake' characters. Especially given that many of the body swap reveals occured in a rush at the very end of the book, and were wrapped up a bit too quickly and neatly IMO.
The body-swap plotting ran along the lines of "A and B fall in love, but A is enchanted to look like C! Will B still love A when B sees what A really looks like? [So far, so good.] But also, the real C is still around, and may or may not look like themselves. And also, B is actually currently physically composed of equal parts B (themselves) and D, and also has had his/her true memories wiped for the time being."
Pessimistically, I'm predicting that seeing these developments done in live-action might be equally as (or more) distancing as reading them, because an audience will get accustomed to seeing a character being played by Actor X for the plot build-up, and may not want to see Actor Y take over for the romantic (or other) payoff.
I was also starting to get behind the direction the book was seeming to take in having the 'Beauty' character not falling for the 'Beast' character, to subvert expectations... except that then she did fall for him after all. Subversion subverted, I suppose.
