Say you're auditioning for college and you need to do two monologues - you get in the room and you forget one of them half way through. What do you do? Would you recommend having a copy in your pocket? What do you do? I'm terrified at forgetting my lines when I go in - it hasn't ever happened to me before but I mean, this is for college... Suggestions?

And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.

i'd advise trying to just get back on track and paraphrase if you need to. I don't think it would look good to pull out a copy of the monologue and look at it, it would break the moment and such. Good Luck.

True. Thanks. I was just wondering.. :)
Anyone else? anyone who's auditioned for college?

I understand your concern, but it's not really specific to colleges. This could happen at any audition. Thankfully, it has never happened to me. *knocks on wood*

This has never happened to me before, but I would try to improv and come up with something that the character might say until I could get back on track

Alrighty. Thanks all. Luckily it hasn't happened to me either, yes knock on wood!, but I'm just stressing out - these will probably be annoying months waiting and anticipating this audition.

As long as you've memorized your monolouges and understand them and have practiced. Alot. That won't happen. If you do forget them then you should know the jist of it so improvise and say it in your own words. Definatly don't stop and start over. It's best to bring a copy of your monolouges with you to look over while you're waiting.
