Posted: 2/12/05 at 7:31pmHey Chicago, if Red State America is your America, why do you live in the Bluest cities in one of the Bluest states in America?
#57hearting boxer
Posted: 2/12/05 at 8:25pmtechnically it's one of the bluest states, however, if you remove nyc from the total, kerry wins new york state by 83,028 votes or 1%. not so blue without nyc.

Posted: 2/12/05 at 8:36pmYou know, I really hate the blue state-red state dichotomy. Saying there's 2 kind of states in America is about as ridiculous as saying there's 2 kinds of countries in the European Union. Though thankfully, we at least have the advantage of a common language. Well, that and whatever the President speaks.

"Barbara Boxer has the IQ and charisma of an empty box."
That seems to be what it takes to be elected president lately, so I'm seeing Boxer '08 all over again!

Hey! Don't forget the Boxer/Dean ticket in 2008 with Hillary as the Secretary of State.
Papa, did you really think your "cut NYC out and New York isn't so blue" post would go without response. I mean, please, how ridiculous is that? Let's just not count the country's biggest city. Ummmm, why would we do that? Why not just say -- let's not count the votes of the midwest? Or see how less red the country is when we drop all the votes in Idaho, Utah and Wyoming?
On Meet the Press, Kerry did some contorted math which I couldn't follow and made as little sense as your "drop NYC votes." It was something about him really winning the popular votes in the battleground states.
The system is the system and Kerry lost. The country is red but New York for now and forever is BLUE.

until 2008 when the colors switch as they do for the incumbent party. at which time blue is red and red is blue!
theis is discussed here:

unless of course red state blue state dialogue has become so ingrained in our culture that it cannot be switched.
actually, zola it's instructive to see how when the urban area of nyc is exempted that the state as a whole looks much more conservative. also interesting that the bluest city on earth has a...oh, crap i can't call bloomberg a republican mayor, scratch that idea (oh for hermie badillo). but this blue state did elect pataki twice and he is a republican, although not the bastion of right wing ideology that would allow him the nod in '08.
please, please, please, zola can you promise me a ticket that includes boxer in '08? pretty please with sugar on top?

Posted: 2/13/05 at 8:00pmya'll really need to be careful what ya say about condi, man. she was head of nsa. but, bway, nah, if you put boxer at the top of the ticket i'll go ya one better and send up santorum. oh golly, i just hurt myself laughing at the idea of that. now i'm going to go cry for a while and pray it doesn't happen, because while yours might be a pipe dream, my guys are just dumb enough to do it.
