Give your Mom a break, I<3bway. If you're anything like a normal teenage girl, you're probably being an absolute nightmare and don't even realize it. I know I was. My mom and I got into knock-down dragouts pretty much every day of my senior year (when I was 16/17). I always blamed her, of course. I even said she needed "psychiatric help." To her. On several occasions. Once I went to college, however, everything changed, and we've had a fantastic relationship ever since. And now, as an adult, I can look back and realize I was being a giant, hormonal pain in the butt, and I don't blame her at all for getting fed up with me.

Good luck, and just take a deep breath from time to time. =)

If this thread is going to stay around... I'll put my six cents in.

You have to take time to think while you're fighting, or better yet, before it happens.

I used to fight with my mom, knowing the whole time that she was right, but I didn't want to admit it... so I kept on.

A lot of good points have been raised. There are all sorts of reason that your mom might be on edge...especially if college is approaching. And maybe it's not all that complicated. Does she work outside the house and also have to do most of the stuff IN the house? I've thrown a hissy fit or two when I seemed to be the only one spending all weekend on chores while everyone else played. If that is an element in what is going on, I'd bet the bank that you could change the dynamic of your relationship with her merely by trying to do something helpful or do something just to be nice on a regular basis WITHOUT her asking. When two people aren't getting along, sometimes all it takes is for one person to do something (good) that is out of the ordinary. If you can do little thing that show your mom that she's important to you, you just might see a difference.
