just finished this show in april. its an easy play to sell tickets...and because that part is soo known, make sure u do the best u have ever done. our sandy had no experience, and that was the first thing that everyone said when they saw it. make sure u have emotion as well.

i think it's really important to try to make sandy (or whatever your character in grease, i was rizzo) a real person. so many times i've seen grease and the characters are flat. sandy is JUST sweet. rizzo is JUST mean -- things like that. it's so much more enjoyable to watch, and seems so much less "fluffy" if you give your character more than one personality trait.
also, go into it understand that it probably won't be the most moving or meaningful role of your entire life....but have as much fun with it as possible, because as fluffy of a show as it is....it really IS fun to be in.
break a leg!
I second everything Sporti2005 just said. I was in Grease this year and I played Marty, but was also called back for Sandy and Rizzo. The director was constantly telling our Sandy not to be flat, to give the character dimension and depth. It's very important because you want the audience to care about your character. Also, the transition is very important so work on both sides of Sandy- the sweet and the sexy.
Most importantly, have fun! And I suggest getting together with whoever is playing Danny so you get to know each other well and are comfortable working with each other. In our cast all the Pink Ladies and Burger Palace boys would get together for dinner once in a while, and the Pink Ladies and Sandy had a sleepover and completely bonded. I'm convinced it helped the chemistry in our performance! It was the director's suggestion to us and I would recommend it! :)
thank you all so much, i appreciate it.
the guy who plays Danny is actually one of my best friends so i'll have no problem there. in fact, Danny, Rizzo, and Kenicke are all played by my best friends. so i'm sure chemistry won't be a huge issue.
thanks again!

Have fun! I had a great time in this show. My sister played Sandy, so if I talk to her soon, I'll definitely ask her for some tips.
I enjoyed doing that show I am sure you will as well. I was Marty, a very funny role!
I'd like to second everyone who talked about doing your best, but I'll say it for the reason that Sandy don't have much to do, so live it up! You're a lead, and you have maybe 20-30 minutes of stage time.
