I just got of the gym by City Hall and was going to go to the post office but the street was half blocked off.
There by St Paul's "Betty" and "Hilda" were having an argument which they took three takes before I went back to work.
It was pretty cool.

Are New Yorkers not used to seeing things being filmed?
You can't drive down a single street here in LA where they aren'r filming SOMETHING.
Fun the first couple of times, and then it's just a bother.
I personally love the "Don't park here, <3 Law & Order" signs.

Yes, I see things filmed all the time and JG2 when I worked in Brooklyn Heights, you could trip over Law and Order filmings.
But there are so many Ugly Betty fans, I thought that they might get a kick of the fact that I saw them filming but I guess they didn't

I'm always enthralled to see movies and TV being made outside. Got a cute story along those lines. We do low budget features here from time to time, on video. We shoot, edit and release on video. We go back a few years now to when the Panasonic 456 video camera was very popular for TV news acquisition. So we were in the theater district. Our actor kept re-taking. And two older ladies weren't sure to walk in front of our camera or not. I was hoping they'd do a walk-by, which is legal to use if someone happens to walk onto a set. But I shut the camera off. Finally, one of them said, "Ah, it's ok. It's just TV." :)
So they had the moxey to know it was a TV news type camera. :)
BTW, VHS footage shot originally on a higher quality broadcast type video camera looks great if you take the original footage and convert it to black and white. It's high enough resolution. That is, you have to take closeup and medium/CU shots. The long shots look typically "video fuzzy."

I remember awhile back a crew doing filming in Times Square where there was an actress standing in a man hole and looking around. Lo and Behold when I saw the movie Enchanted they were filming the scene where Amy Adams arrives to NYC via the man hole. I didn't realize it was her until I saw the movie and then when I did I remembered where I saw what I was watching before.
I remember hearing two members of the crew joke about how when they are filming in times square they don't need to hire extras because it is so chock full of people anyways.

I pass by things being filmed every now and then but I never recognize anyone or know what the project is. It's annoying if you're driving or in a rush to get somewhere.
