I'M GOING TO BE A CHEF!

To me, this was the most pathetically amusing part of any post in this thread, "I was going to announce my plans earlier, but I didn't want to be rejected and have to face you people."
Who knew "you people" has so much power and influence and your rejection matters.

Two other things to add:
Unless you have your own restaurant you will most likely be preparing someone else's recipes. Not too creative, just a grind...and very frustrating.
Secondly, I question the principles of an institution that would sign up a young person to the tune of 50 Grand when that person has no experience in the field in which the school specializes. I know this is a reputable facility, but the "recruiting" techniques reek of "take their money and let them worry about if they have what it takes to make it."

I haven't believed a thing this person has said in months. Not that it matters.
There's just something strange about a compulsion to lie to perfect strangers. It may be amusing to the stranger, but where's the payout for the liar?

Posted: 8/5/05 at 1:31pmGuys let up a bit. I don't think he's lying. a little naive... maybe. Try to think back to a time when you got something you really wanted. Well thats how hes feeling right now, let him enjoy it. Good luck to him, let him try to figure out how he can work it all out, if he does wonderful! If not then there is another life experience he can learn from. Its hard to stop from trying something you really want even though all common sense and others are telling you it wont work... i know from experience... it hurts.

Beaver, do you have an extra room you could let him use free of charge? I think that is what he was hinting at. But he was just too shy to ask.
And, I didn't mean to imply that the school is not a good one or that people do not come out of there with a lot of opportunities. But many people go to these programs thinking it is their meal ticket (sorry). Second City here in Chicago is like that. They will take anyone who has the money and they all think they are going to end up on Saturday Night Live.

CK - Do you want me to forward you the emails stating I've been accepted? Hmm? Would that make you happy? Don't pretend you've never lied. Maybe not here, but you've lied to somebody.
I'm not lying about this. I have lied here before, true. I'm not going to deny that.
Thanks to everyone who's congradulating me. On Christmas Eve my father told me he wasn't going to speak to me again until I started making "correct decision". This was after I quit school to move to Dallas. Now that I'm going back to school, I'm hoping he'll come around.
And again, who is Jon Lovitz?

Except for a few veiled cautionary words I have stayed out of this discussion till now.
Obvious, my immediate response to your initial post was that any school would obviously accept any student willing and able to pay a $50,000 tuition fee. I didn't want to be the first to burst your bubble, I knew that would happen by someone else in short order (short order, get it?).
I proffer that hearing of my previous experiences might be some benefit to you as you consider your upcoming choices.
As the song goes, "I Can Cook, Too."
I, too, recall your email earlier this year about your at home cooking experiences. I suggest we talk if you like.

No more bloody messes, thanks.
and Beav, thank you. I appreciate it.
Jose - I've done better than my spaghetti fiasco. About two weeks ago I made this AWESOME lemon herb chicken with fire roasted corn salad. You should've been there. (It was a recipe from William Sonama.)

Beaverhausen? People having issues with me? No.
There was at a time, a psychotic group of 20 somethings who attacked me wherever I went because their leader felt that I had committed a felony for flirting whilst I was married. Apparently you're not allowed to flirt with a desperate girl, because she will take it as some kind of freaky committment and make all kinds of assumptions. Any-hoo, since her brigade of pleasantly plump streetwalkers decided to threaten me at every turn, I at one time slipped into a pseudonym to avoid their harassment. Obviously that is not the case any more, because I realized that they were silly tw*ts.
One should never be here unless they are having fun. If C_O doesn't like the attention positive OR negative, he can leave at any time as he has threatened numerous times.
Something tells me that he likes the attention though. Just a guess.

Posted: 8/8/05 at 11:06amMaybe it's just me, but isn't there a little more to culinary arts than being able to follow a recipe? I can make many a mean dish from recipe books ranging from Campbell's to Wolfgang Puck, but it doesn't mean I understand the actual principles of preparing meats, sauces, herb and spice combinations, or the important chemical and physical properties of cooking, cooling, chilling and freezing. The recipes are usually written by those who already understand these things. Either that, or they have had good luck throwing together something new. There is so much more to being a chef than simply cooking a good meal. Ask Monica from Friends. Look how long it took her to make it as a chef.

ckeaton, what's funny is that Captain_Obvious and Beaverhausen weren't even aware of your riff with me (yes, I am the "desperate" girl ckeaton's referring to in his distorted version of reality) - in fact, aside from your rambling rant, they still don't know what the hell you're talking about. Nice try though - and don't forget, to assume is to make and ass out of you, and...well, just you. Guilty conscience?
There's also more to the story than you're bringing up, and I've the conversations to prove it. Luckily, unlike you, I decided to take the high road and drop that old news long ago, while you've "psychotic"-ally (your word) decided to bring it up and make unprovoked jabs at me where it's irrelevant and NOT LET IT GO.
There's another silly twenty-something tw*t around here, and it ain't me. Baggage? Meet sophomoric grudges. Again, LET IT GO. MOVE ON. Or at least visit jrb_actor's "...Banal Details..." thread, because no one (including me) cares.
(PS. You are in no position to make snide remarks about those who are "pleasantly plump". Or "desperate", teeny-weenie sir.)
As for culinary school, congratulations, C_O!
