for all of you out of work actors who need to bitch about being out of work, despite the fact that you are good, attractive, and talented, this is the thread for you.
Why did I choose this career? The feast or famine part of it is really depressing me right now. I just found a current playbill from a show my mom just went to, and discovered the headshot of a guy that I was up against, who's walking skills are questionable, let alone dance skills, but he got the part, because has a little more of the ethnic look they are going for.
It just shook me, becuase after the audition, you forget it and move on, and if you don't get the call, then you don't get the call. but to tangibly see his headshot in the playbill was very disheartening.
whatever. I'm bitching. I deserve to. I got laid off on Friday, have no money built up, I'm a good actor, but can't seem to catch a break. I don't need sympathy, because I chose the career, and am not blind to the fact that it's uber-competitave. I just felt like this could be a group therapy thread.
But JESUS! someone recognize my talent and give me a job!!
