I know, I know...this thread has been started about a billion times, but I must voice my frustration somewhere. I am participating in the Irene Ryan Competition in January. I'm singing and my coach and I are trying to find the "perfect" song (which i'm beginning to think doesn't exist.) I keep bringing her duets and she doesn't like them for one reason or another. Today we have a meeting...where there is not only us, but also 2 other faculty members trying to define what kind of song I need....
The conclusion was that I need something (and I quote) "darkly strong yet charmingly cute"
The two duets that I like the best are "Therapy" from Tick Tick Boom and "What Could be Better" from Baby. They don't like either.
They want something that is those two songs put together. Apparently when i'm in love on stage and singing, I have a "glow" which is what they want(aka the baby song)...but they also want something that has a strong objective and isn't just like "i love you...blah blah"(aka therapy)
oh yeah and it can't be overdone.
and it has to be age appropriate.
Does a song like this exist? If ANYONE knows of ANYTHING or any advice on how not to stab my eyes out...that would be great.
