"O Holy Night" isn't bad, and that "Christmastime Is.." song from the Charlie Brown Christmas Special rivals Joni Mitchell's "The River" for sheer wrist-slitting glory, but DAMN!!

i like christmas songs, especially non-traditional interpretations of them...

Let's see...it is December sixth...

...that leaves nineteen days until we don't have to hear the frigging music for eleven months.

I actually like dirty and rude versions of familiar holiday favorites-for-others, but let us not hit the gutter quite so soon.

I get really sick of Christmas music too. I mean they start playing it on the radio and in department stores at the beginning of November. Do we REALLY need to hear these songs for two months?!?! I think not! When I get home from school, I'm sure the Broadway Cares and Chieftans Bells of Christmas CDs will be in heavy rotation (well, since I just got royally screwed and I'm not done with finals until the 23rd, there'll only be a couple of days worth of holiday music at home! Fine by me!)

But I really think the whole season is starting to get overdone. Wouldn't a week or so be enough? Does it really need to be stretched out to a month, or more? I think it's a lot more special if you just make it into a few days worth of celebrating...break out the holiday music, decorate the house, bake some cookies, spend time w/ family and friends. When it gets all stretched out, it just becomes about buying, buying, buying. My family's pretty much abandoned making a big to do about it, and now we just have a nice dinner and rest up for the post Christmas sales!

I hate people who start wearing their "Christmas sweaters" this early.

And what's with all the Christmas crap being sold starting after Labour Day?? Get me through Thansgiving, Halloween, Remembrance Day before you start cramming THIS commercialism down my throat!

Although I do have a weakness for the Pariah Scary song.

I love this board more every day. Everyone adores holiday music except for me, it just sounds cheesy... I hate how they start playing it right after halloween. Jack-o-laterns and tackily decorated pine trees do not go togethter.

My, my, my! Santa's list must be getting mighty full. I agree about the comericialism being bad, but I do love the season (but not all the insipid Christmas music)
My favorite tradition is baking cookies to bring tp the police and firestations on Christmas Eve. This is something I have done ever since I was quite small. Now my kids love doing it!

It's unfair to those of us who DO celebrate Christmas but hate the horrible pop music versions of Christmas songs that are played over and over and over again. "Simply Having A Wonderful Christmastime" is seriously going to drive me over the edge one of these years.
