I went to Italy about three years ago...I have a good photo of me and my mother in a gondola....as well as many others. Tuscany is beautiful.

I love to travel...just got back from Paris and London actually.

I brag too much.

Sorry.

guess I'm the only on NOT impressed with Florence.....the art, yes.....but it was way too crowded, way too touristy, way too expensive.........I would not go back again.

Everyone said base yourself in Siena, and I with I had.

It was nice being there when Italy won the world cup.........they went nuts. 5 Euros for a fanta in Florence, less than 2 in Siena....makes no sense.

Florence can't compare to Roma

Sardenia is the most romantic place on EARTH.

Florence is beautiful, but Siena's beauty is on such an intimate scale that it takes your breath away.

And our favorite Tuscan town was Lucca. The top of the ancient walls of the city have become a park that encircles the city with trees and benches.

Enjoy every minute--no matter how hot it is! I'm going back in October and I can't wait.

joey, out favorite comment was that Siena looked like Strasbourg on crack.......it was loke God said, Hmmmm, I need a perfect Renaissance town, and poof, made one.

Our favorite hill town was Colle Val d'Elsa, an amazing little town...few tourists, simply charming

Elphaba, did you get to visit that chapel in Florence--not far from the Duomo--where all the walls are painted with a stunning fresco of the Magi? The artist used a rare and beautiful blue for the sky and it was breathtaking. I wish I could remember the chapel's name.

The farmhouse we rented was between Colle Val d'Elsa and San Gimignano. I can see why it was your favorite.

"In Lucca, join the daily 'passeggiata' (promenade) atop the tree-lined perimeter. Here one may enjoy the wooded gardens above each bastion as well as the vistas into the town and out to the distant mountains. There are also many delights in Lucca for the lover of art or archaeology."

I spent several days here last month. I didn't expect it to be a demi-paradise.

That chapel doesn't allow photos and didn't sell postcards, so I don't have a record of how beautiful the painting was.
