Let's turn the whole Dam* thing into a lake....actually I've never been there, but since someone was picking on Orlando (UCF Alumni, Former Resident here ) I felt like I had to pick on somewhere else
As someone who has lived here for the majority of her life, I agree with you on Kansas sucking.
You might be careful, though. There are more Jayhawks on this board than you might think

I hope Robert Altman doesn't read that in the afterlife.

I liked the first two Kansas albums.
I'm at the Aggies v. K-State game tonight... and hearing similar sentiments to yours, bobpopa =)
I totally understand where you're coming from in regards to Kansas, but my advice is to carry on my wayward son. There'll be peace when you are done.

Kansas City is in Missouri, yo!
The one mentioned in the song is in MO, you mo.
Yes, I am well aware.
The song refers to KC, MO, but this thread refers to Kansas. And, if you look at your response, you did not indicate you were referring to the song.
You have problems. Seek help. Or medication. Or perhaps both.

Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz is from Kansas; it can't be so bad!
I was actually making a joke today about calling a COMP USA in Kansas.
I got to got to Kansas City, MO/Kansas City, KS for a work trip a few years ago (NASCAR race), pretty boring area, but I really didn't have much free time to explore. I did eat at my first Cracker Barrel though.

MotorTink, you work for NASCAR?
It really depends what you are looking for. My company has offices in Missouri, and many of my friends live in Kansas (relocated from LA to KC Missouri for work, and many live in neighboring Kansas). I actually considered moving out there - Missouri has a great history of Jazz - but Kansas, not so much. Everyone works in Missouri, but lives in Kansas, because the crime is lower.
Many of the folks that moved seemed relatively happy.
But, they sure get a wee bit cold in the winter and awfully humid int he summer!
Tink - what about Gates BBQ?

You work in NASCAR???? Sweet.
Been there, done that, YWIW. Shock therapy also, but nothing seems to do the trick. I'm a lost cause, I guess.
Well then perhaps it is the residual effects. Stay away from light sockets, for your own safety and the safety of others.
I know. Learned THAT the hard way.
Gates BBQ? Nah, just Cracker Barrel, the hotel restaurant, and an Applebee's. We were supposed to go to some haunted hay ride thing (it was the beg. of October) with some friends that we knew out there, but we were beat after the race and just crashed.
I worked for the sponsor of a car. I used to travel to a lot of the races for hospitality/PR/fan festivals/etc. I stopped at the end of the 05 season. I miss it so!
Funny, I recently worked on a contract for a hospitality suite for a NASCAR race at a local speedway in KC, Mo.
Gates is the BBQ chain in KC, Mo. They use wonder bread, or something similarly gross with the BBQ to suck up the sauce (or at least that is what I recall). I went there once or twice, and would not go again. I think it is a local tradition of sorts in KC.
Even worse is Kenny Rogers BBQ place. I had to take my clothes to the dry cleaners after eating there!
