I just voted and I only waited about 5 minutes!

Posted: 10/20/08 at 2:52pmI LOVE early voting! I also don't know how there can be voter fraud because they scanned my license and I had to verify my address!

Posted: 10/20/08 at 2:54pmMom - voter rules vary by state. In NJ, I just show up and sign, and a seventysomething election volunteer glances at the signature to compare it to their book. Some states are much stricter than others.

How did you have to verify your address, SM?
Because my address on my ID is still my old house's (even though the DMV has been notified of the new one. They just don't send you a new one). Can I just bring a bill with my new address on it?

Posted: 10/20/08 at 3:06pmWell, they just asked my address after I gave them my license- of course, I have lived her for 16 years so it wasn't questioned. I guess that would be a way to commit fraud but it still had to match up with my voter registration on the printout. Stockard- I guess any ID you bring to verify will help. I did get my "I Voted" sticker and I will proudly wear it. Oh, and in case you were wondering- of course I voted for Obama and I voted No on amendment 2 (FL) that said marriage should be between one man and one woman.

jersey - yeah i registered a few weeks back before the deadline. the thing is at this point its almost been a month since i registered. i didnt even take any chances by mailing in my registration. i walked to the office on my lunch break and did it in person. ive called a few times and all they tell me is "we're so backed up its probably still being processed".
lame.

Posted: 10/20/08 at 3:55pmI voted last week in Ohio. It was so easy and no lines. There were about 30-40 people in and out when we were there. I would suggest to anyone who can to vote early and avoid the 4th. Happy voting!

Posted: 10/20/08 at 4:16pmI voted early in IL this weekend (not that it matters since we're going blue no matter who I voted for, even though it was Obama haha). There was a pretty big line at our library, I had to wait for about 20 minutes or so before I got to vote. One guy was mad because he couldn't use his voter registration card as verification that he was registered to vote, which didn't make sense to me either but since they're paper I guess they'd be easy to counterfeit. All the man at the computers would tell him was that he needed a state-issued ID.

Posted: 10/20/08 at 4:32pmIt's kind of funny that you early voters believe your vote actually counts.
