I know it's Seattle... but this is ridiculous!

I'm enjoying the rain here in Seattle. It hasn't been too bad. I had a fun drive through puddles yesterday, and a really relaxing rainy night walk. I'm weird I know, but the rain hasn't been a huge downpoor, so it doesn't bother me. It hasn't been too cold either. I'd rather have rainy days, than snowy ones, which can be annoying in Seattle.

Posted: 1/10/06 at 4:51pmI do like the fact that it's not cold, and not snowing in the lowlands. That's just bad.

Right as you bumped this thread, the sun went down. Thanks a lot, DD.
Did you guys have heavy rain a few days ago? (DD, that Saturday, even though the rain wasn't terribly heavy, a few buildings in the Lower Mainland flooded!) I hydroplaned yesterday. Luckily it was in the middle of the night and no one else was too close to me.

Posted: 1/10/06 at 5:06pmIt was raining pretty heavy last night when I left work at 8:30. There have been a few mudslides... the ground is SO saturated. These are the days I'm glad I don't have the Miata anymore... talk about hydroplaning.

I'm from a few hours north of Seattle (Vancouver, British Columbia) but we get pretty much the same weather... the rain yesterday was INSANE, my roof is leaking and water is comming in from windows since the drains aroung the house are full, and may be blocked by leaves and what not (so I was told be my parents, I just left Vancity for the east coast, back to school)... however I do like the rain a lot more then the snow and ice... how I miss the West coast
dont get to go back until April

*waves*
<-- Vancouver, BC too. The rain last night was awful - I hydroplaned on Hwy 91. Scary. Did you hear about those schools (I think Port Moody or New West or something) that flooded?

Yeah there were schools and highways flooding. I believe the highways leading to/off the Mary Hill and Second Narrows were rerouted, but don't quote me on that. It may have been another major bridge. (Lion's Gate?) Maybe Patullo if it's the east that floods.
I love Maritimers. Lived in Newfoundland for a few months, and they're even friendlier than Winnipeggers!

he he... I called mine the skate.
OK, so we already broke the record for most consecutive days with more than 1/3" of rain. Isn't that lovely. My boss was saying that we can now expect more landslides, flooding, etc., because the ground just can't hold any more water. Oh joy!

Toronto, Elphaba? *spit spit* Probably because I'm Chinese?
Newfies really are the friendliest people. They actually felt safe driving up to the bank, leaving the car running, going in to grab money and coming back out. I couldn't believe it!

not at all Dear, I didn't even know you were Chinese.......maybe I assumed Toronto cause I think you flew through there to Europe? And I thought that was home.
Glad it's Vancouver.......from what I hear a much prettier place. My partner is dying to visit there, and I always nix it......

Posted: 1/10/06 at 11:11pmI used to live in Seattle. I moved to NYC 4 years ago, and haven't been back. I miss it a lot actually, until I hear about all this rain. Still.....Seattle is a great city. I really need to go visit, but I think I'll wait til August when the skies are usually blue and you can go out on a boat on lake washington and well...you don't find a more beautiful place.

The bluest skies...
Seattle is truly wonderful in the summer. Too bad it's so short.

It was one of those rare sunny days in the mountains. It's only the second time I've had sun while skiing.

Exhibit A why I sold my Miata and bought an SUV.

At least with an SUV, you won't hydroplane, you'll just flip over!
