I suppose it started for me when I was a small child. One of the neighborhood kids showed me a huge wiener in his yard. He told me not to touch it but I had to. His dad saw me and yelled at me.
Um, I see a lot of misandry going on in this thread. Not to mention the objectification of those cute little wiener dogs and all. I'm going to have to PM the mods.
I changed it to IE since that follows the rule "I before E".
I am lost in reverie thinking of seeing that big wiener and then the feel of it, so warm. I must have been only 6 or 7 but still remember reaching out and feeling it.
This is what it looked like. My neighbor's dad wrote "Oh I Wish I Were an Oscar Meyer Wiener!" so they brought the wienermobile by. It was on the local news and everything. I touched it.
"Wiener" is the correct spelling. It comes from the term for a Viennese sausage. "Vienna" in German is "Wien". "Wein" means wine. A "Weiner" could be described as one who makes wine, though I'm sure Stockard and danmag are probably familiar with the lingo.

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

THANK YOU MATT! I thought about the Vienna/Weiner thing, which I why I originally said EI but spell check wouldn't stop yelling at me!
In any case, I'm not letting anything ruin my enjoyment of a good wiener- I prefer natural ones and I LOVE when there is that spurt of juice in my mouth.
I always have at least two packages of Zackey Farms Franks in my fridge.
Can't live without them.
