I was sad when he didn't perform "Thriller" or "Scream" at thie 2001 concert. He's on his way back!
Jackson to perform "Thriller" in comeback show.

Reclusive pop star Michael Jackson plans a dramatic comeback bid later this month with a performance of his classic song "Thriller," organizers of a music awards ceremony said on Wednesday.
The 48-year-old entertainer has been a virtual recluse since his acquittal on child molestation charges in June, 2005, dividing much of his time between Bahrain and Ireland.
Last month the World Music Awards announced that Jackson would appear in London to accept a Diamond Award that goes to artists who sell more than 100 million records worldwide, and this week they confirmed Jackson's intention to perform.
"Yes, it's his first performance in a long time," said a spokeswoman at Outside Organization, one of the public relations companies publicizing the event. "It's something of a comeback if you like."
The choice of song coincides with the 25th anniversary of Jackson's "Thriller" album, one of the biggest-selling records of all time.
Jackson has said he planned to move to Europe in a bid to resurrect his musical career, and in April a record label said he intended to make a new album to be released in 2007.
Besides Jackson's eagerly awaited return, Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan will host the awards show on November 15, and recording stars Beyonce, Mary J. Blige and Andrea Bocelli are slated to perform.
The World Music Awards are based on artists' sales as opposed to votes from the public or a panel of judges.

Will he perform it with his original face?
Let's hope.
Do most people remember what he looked like?

Forgive me if I don't jump for joy here.
Why? You don't like his music, or you don't like him?

I'm going to go ahead and guess that our resident anti-homosexuality and anti-abortion activist also frowns upon alleged child molesters. Yes?
But I don't think that should be a reason not to like ones profession.
I do have an example!
That's like saying I don't approve of interracial marriages, so I'm not gonna like Idina Menzel or Tay Diggs. I'm not going to watch RENT or Day Break (which i can't wait to see, btw).

I didn't say I thought it was a good reason. I just figured that would make sense for RT.

My guess is that it is has more to do with the occult-related themes of the title song.

Hmm. Interesting. I hadn't thought of that.
The video is one of his best.
Speaking of 'Thriller,' did anyone see VH1's Best Songs of the 80s countdown? Was 'Thriller' even on the list at all, or did I just miss it? I had it pegged for #1.
For nostalgia's sake:
I saw Thriller on a BET "Best of Michael Jackson" thing a while back, as #1.
'Thriller' is an incredible pop song.
The fact that it might be about Satan just makes it that much cooler

Yes, THRILLER was near the top of VH1's list - maybe top 10, even.
Hmmmmm! I must have been in the bathroom at that time.

I did like that they talked about Cyndi on Broadway - even with a picture of her in costume.
I can't believe he's 58!!
Oh please. He's so O-V-E-R. He should stay in Bahrain!
I should have guessed this would happen. What a flake.
Jacko Nearly Back’s Out of Awards
The reports from the World Music Awards in London last night are not good for Michael Jackson. He let Chris Brown perform “Thriller” and Jackson himself only sang a few lines of “We Are the World.” He is said to have been unable to hit the notes in the song, too.
But I can tell you that as predicted, Jackson tried to back out of doing the show after he arrived. A backstage source said Jackson wanted to leave and that a car was brought into the backstage area for him. Luckily, someone convinced him to stay. Jackson asked Lindsay Lohan, the show’s host, to introduce him.
Sources also tell me the show — which was taped live for broadcast — was very disorganized and poorly planned. Jackson and his entourage were — maybe still are being — put up at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel after enduring a night at the four-star Soho hotel, Hempel House. That stay was peculiar in and of itself since the Hempel is on a side street and has little protection from fans and the public.
Meantime, the roar of bad press can be read this morning in London, where Jackson is raked over the coals in every single newspaper for an embarrassing performance. It turns out the appearance at the World Music Awards was, as predicted, a terrible idea.
From the descriptions, it was poorly and hastily produced, under rehearsed and undirected. This should come has no surprise since Jackson hasn’t got a proper manager or any handlers who know anything about show business — just a nanny and a press rep.
But Jackson has so systematically destroyed all his relationships, there isn’t anyone left to take charge of his bizarre, downwardly spiraling career.
Source!
