re: I'm dying...

"I have mixed feelings about the subject at hand. I think that abortion is alright in cases of rape or incest or in cases where the mother's life is in jeopardy. I know that everyone has a right to choose what they feel is right but I think that having an abortion just because you were irresponsible is wrong. I'm not saying that everyone who gets an abortion is irresponsible but that seems to be the fact in a lot of cases. I do believe that when you are pregnant there is life inside of you and if you get rid of that life you are commiting murder."

My thoughts exactly!!

On a similar note, should parents have to be informed if their teen has an abortion?? My opinion is, ABSOLUTELY!!

re: I'm dying...

I useto say that I am pro-life, I suppose I still am but I do not think it is my place to make the choise for someone else. My personal opinion is that it should only be allowed in the case of rape or if the mother is in danger. I think it is irrisponsible and barbaric of someone who hsa pre-marital sex, knowing that there is always the possibility of getting pregnant, to have an abortion. But again, I don't feel that it is my place to make the decisions for someone else's body.

"On a similar note, should parents have to be informed if their teen has an abortion?? My opinion is, ABSOLUTELY!! "

yes, there is so much involved psychologically with an abortion, not to tell the parents so the teenager could get help is wrong.

re: I'm dying...

I used to be completely pro-life, no way no how was I going to support abortion, for anyone.

Now I'm kinda like... eh, its your body, its your child, you can choose. I personally would NEVER get an abortion, if I got pregnant today, I sure as hell wouldn't be happy about it but I think that if you get pregnant, you're meant to have the kid (it's not a religious thing though). I would put my child up for adoption, because I'm still a kid and I'm not mature enough in any way to completely take care of someone else.

re: I'm dying...

pro choice 100%. I will not tell a woman what to do with her uterus, unless she can tell me what to do with my prostate.

I have no right to tell any woman what to do with her body, period.

Those who use abortion as a contraceptive need education, and perhaps the government would be smarter to spend the millions they spend on anti-gay initiatives and issues on abortion/contraceptive education rather than trying to make a segment of the population 2nd class citizens.

And this is my only comment on this issue.

Well damn then I should have been pregnant a 100 times already. If you take birth control pills at the same time everyday you will not get pregnant.

re: I'm dying...

I think that if it was something that the woman did not willingly get involved in, like rape or incest. The woman has been through enough and if she feels that she can not handle dealing with a baby from this horrific experience then who am I to judge? But if you are going out sleeping around and not caring about the consiquenses then I feel that it is 100% wrong. If you don't want a baby take birth control, use a condom or better yet stop sleeping around (For those out just screwing around). Sex can and will lead to pregnancy if precautions aren't taken. Sacrificing a human life because you are too lazy to take a little pill or slip a condom on is wrong. Things don't always work and pregnancy can still occur, but there is always adoption. I feel that life is precious and just throwing it out like trash is awful. I know a girl who got an abortion and she regrets it to this day.

re: I'm dying...

I am pro-choice, 100%.

Now, does that mean I think abortions are ok? No, not at all. I have a real problem with it, PERSONALLY. If I was even in a situation when I had to make that decision, I would not agree to one. (off- off- off- chance that i got a female pregnant... first I'd have to have sex with one) But those are MY values, and I don't agree that I should project or legislate MY values on someone else. That is the woman's CHOICE, therefore I am Pro-choice.

re: I'm dying...

I think it depends on the situation.

I don't think abortion should be a tool used to correct past mistakes. If a woman has sex without protection knowing that if she gets pregnant she could have an abortion, then she shouldn't be allowed. On the other hand, if she has the baby, she may treat it badly out of contempt for the government, or whoever denies her the abortion.

If a woman is raped, she should be allowed to choose what she wants.

I do think, however, there should be a certain point when you can no longer have an abortion - and in which case adoption is the answer.

Uglybug says..."But I also don't approve of using it as birth control. It's a big deal and shouldn't be used lightly. My roommate 2 yrs ago had an abortion. She was a whore, and any respect I had for her when down the drain right then."

went. Was she a whore when you still had "any" respect for her?

Not true.
There are many known things that can reduce efficacy of oral contraceptives: poor quality manufacture, improper dosage, changes in body chemistry, interactions with other drugs (virtually all antibiotics, among others) and use of some herbs (including the oh so common st. john's wort) to name just a few.

and even though some might be able to stick to the same time every day regimen, 'typical use' studies show failure rates ranging 3-7%.

The only form of 100% birth control is a hysterectomy. :P

re: I'm dying...

It's a gray area. There is no black or white.

What disgusts me is extremism on either side. For instance, rabid pro-lifers who also support the death penalty. If it's wrong to play God by taking an unborn life, then it's also wrong to play God by putting someone to death, no matter how morally reprehensible their crimes. Equally wrong is supporting abortion in any form, for whatever reason at any time, all the while saying that the death penalty is wrong, even for ones like Jeffrey Dahmer or Wayne Gacy or Ted Bundy.

re: I'm dying...

I do not think it is right to call woman who have abortions dumb is right. I am all for pro-choice. My Mother, had once, and my older brother would have been four years older than me. But my mom already had my older sister (eight years older) and she was trying so hard to support her. She knew she wouldn't be able to keep her job if she got pregnant, and there-fore couldn't support my sister. Although she regrets it now, she thought it was better for her child.

I think it's better to have the child, but there are already many unwanted children in the world.

re: I'm dying...

I've actually read in several articles that more women in the US die in child birth then from an abortion. I am 100% pro-choice. The comment about having pre-marital sex that results in pregnancy and the decision to have an abortion being "barbaric" is TOTALLY CRAZY! What about married couples that don't wish to have children? Is it still "barbaric" then? I completly agree that women who have several abortions need some kind of education, however, the option to have an abortion should always be there for her.

re: I'm dying...

I think about this topic quite often. I was born at 26 weeks - two weeks after the last day of a legal second trimester abortion.

Here's something I thought of -- is it worth bringing an unwanted child, who will be considered a burden, and therefore may not recieve all the love it is entitled to, or to not have a child to begin with? I am personally pro-choice. I would rather have no child, then bring a child into the world who, while I may love and care for, would be an interruption in life. Selfish, but true.

From what I recall in Jewish Law, life begins with breath -the moment the baby can breathe on it's own.

Sorry if this post is scattered, just a collection of thoughts.
