Here's where the corn dog was invented: COZY DOG on old Route 66 in Springfield, Illinois.

This is my first post and being a little timid, I figure I can't go wrong on this thread. As a child I never liked them, a little too greasy. I tried them again when that big hat lemonade stand came to the malls and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty they were. If I can imagine a perfect corn dog it would be a Nathan's or is there such a thing already?

Anyone remember that scene from "The Princess Diaries" where Anne Hathaway got Julie Andrews to eat a corn dog?
Sorry, I just can't help but think of that scene whenever I think of corn dogs...

I think corndogs are disgusting.......how can you do that to a time-tradition hot dog???
Now on the subject of pizzas......I have never met a pizza I haven't loved. In fact, I just had a new one when I recently visited Madison, Wisconsin - Macaroni & Cheese Pizza. I turned my nose up at first, but I'll tell you - it was damn good!!!

Omg I used to eat the Morning Star veggie corn dogs like crazy. I still kind of remember the first time I had a corn dog at a big state fair. I also bought a pair of moccasins, a chimp puppet in a baby outfit, and made a candle that day. Fun times.
I'm a big fan of corn. And hotdogs. And I just love how they're on a stick. Now I'm hungry.

I'm not a huge fan of the corndog.
Schmergie, you go ahead and talk about your school cafeteria as much as you want, hon.

Posted: 11/9/08 at 7:49pmok... i've always wondered this... hot dog on a stick and corndogs are essentially the same thing, right?? dumb question i know.... but it's a corn dog... a hot dog on a stick implies it's literally a hot dog on a stick... which is NOT a corn dog... haha... stupid argument i know.. but hey... we're on a thread talking about corndogs... haha

I love corn dogs!
Not the Hot-Dog-On-a-Stick kind, but the "fair food" variety.
That said, I've probably only had two in the last decade.
But they were yummy!
And I've never had Toad in the Hole... but it sounds great!
I've had Bubble and Squeak, though. I don't think there's an American counterpart to that.

Posted: 11/9/08 at 8:37pmI only wish that "cock-a-leeky soup" tasted as good as its name. You'd think it'd follow the Smuckers law, but it's really nothing too special.

not about corn dogs.. but fair food in general... anyone tried the fried twinkies and other stuff... i've been good about eating healthier and i'm scared to just stray off the path and eat a fried twinkie or fried ice cream or fried oreos or deep friend vegetables... how'd you all like it?
my brother and his wife went to the san diego fair and they ate a krispy kreme sandwhich... which was of course two krispy kreme donuts with a fried chicken in between them... which sounds nasty to me... but they said it was good.... eek... no wonder we're the fattest country in the world!

Posted: 11/9/08 at 10:29pmI had a fried oreo at the fair. It was extremely hot I remember it like falling apart in my mouth too, but I think it was good just very very sweet.

I just had to scroll through two months of Cake Wrecks, but here's some visuals for anyone who's never before considering slicing open a Krispy Kreme and filling it with meat.

I've had two months to come to terms with it and I'm still having to bite back the urge to scream "OMG NO BAD SICK WRONG WRONG WRONG NOOOOO!".

Posted: 11/11/08 at 7:50amWhen I was in elementary school my favorite school lunch was called a "Weiner Wink". (Yeah....I can't believe they called it that either!) It was a hotdog in a piece of white sandwich bread folded to be like a bun, and then with a piece of american cheese over the top. I was so excited last year when I saw it on our school menu. And of course, the fifth graders doing morning announcements couldn't help but giggle as they read the lunch menu that day.
