re: I need to find the Cash Cab

And I admire his ability to conduct the show while driving in NYC!

Actually, I don't think he's a very good city driver. He drives really slowly and carefully. If you look out the windows, everyone is always passing him. That's the one thing that bothers me about the show. I wish he would speed and swerve and swear like everyone else. I guess if you're getting hundreds of dollars for it though, you can't complain about the bad service.

In the last 4 years, I have yet to experience the swerving and cursing! Now when I lived back east in the 70's and 80's I do remember that happening. But hasn't recently.

I think the driver, Ben Bailey, is sexy.

Do you live in New York? Manhattan? My cab drivers are always veering in and out of lanes and cars and rolling down their windows to yell and curse at the other drivers.

I don't think the passengers are taken that much by surprise. The website says contestants are prescreened. Also there is usually footage of them walking up to the cab and hailing it.

re: I need to find the Cash Cab

Actually, by pre-screened I think they mean they go through a screening process after they "surprise factor".

Meaning they hail the cab, they get in, they find out it's the cash cab. The tape stops rolling, the producers talk to them and if they agree to continue well, then they do.

And Raspberry, not all cab drivers do that.... Not for nothing, I think I actually see more regular drivers do that, than I do cab drivers. Then again, it's been years since I've taken a cab. If Im not in my own car or on the subway, I walk. ESPECIALLY with the fare hike.

re: I need to find the Cash Cab

I'd never seen this show before last week. I was stuck in the hospital and turned on my favorite two guys - the Mythbusters. After their show, Cash Cab came on and I became hooked. Based on the fact that it appeared after Mythbusters, I'd guess that the show is on Discovery Channel.

Like others here, if I was lucky enough to find it I'd ask for as far away as possible - no matter what I originally wanted. The longer the trip, the more questions you get. Of course you get three wrong and he kicks you out of the cab right there - no matter where you are at the time. I saw that happen twice last week. I was also amazed at the number of questions I really couldn't answer. These were mainly about professional sports and car models. Probably a snap for anyone else.

I think he is fed the questions through an earpiece...but it still must be hard to drive and conduct the show all at once...

I wonder what happens if the contestant flunks out in the middle of a bad neighborhood, and gets dumped there, and then gets mugged or murdered...

i need to find the cash cab

I LOVE this show. It would be so kick butt to find it and win some money. They probably have some set distance as to where they pick up people (something like between 2 and 4th Avenues), so someone should gauge that and see if they can get on the show.
