There have been many times that I absolutely despise my family. I am disabled, very ill, struggling financially and many times have to decide whether to buy prescriptions, groceries or pay bills. My clothes are falling apart. My family does not help me at all. However my mother just bought me a cemetery plot next to hers. Go figure. Sometimes you don't always get the family you want. And sometimes friends are the people you choose as family.

Insomniak.yes it is morbid. But she paid for it with a credit card and got many frequent flyer miles!! I pray for my family regularly.

Insomniak......she gets so many frequent flyer miles for ewvery dollar she charges on her credit card. My cemetery plot is in San Francisco near where my family lives. I liove in HArtford. CT. When I die.........I am going first class to San Fran!!!

Spider - I can relate - I was home (Texas) in September, and got into it with my mother about George Bush in the car on the way home from the airport! I told her in all seriousness that she could turn right back around and take me back to the airport if this is what I had to look forward to for my visit home.

Just know that going to college is the great equalizer - it's where you can shed your PARENT'S ideals and fully develop your own. Hang in there, and bravo for speaking up to your father.

Bobby, I am 22.

MJR, I have already gone to college and taking my last class here at home (which is why I live at home).

Christine, if my dad had to torture me with his god-awful long lectures to get me to tell him who I voted for, he would have done it. Also, I wanted him to know that I was voting for Kerry because I am sick and tired of always being told what to do and and being told that if I do not believe in every single thing my family does (or Christians in general) I am a bad person. I wanted to throw it in his face because I am sick of it.

My mom just came in here saying, "Bush is winning and I hope he stays winning." I said, "I don't want to hear about it" but she is still talking out loud saying the gay marriage is wrong and crap. So, I said, "I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT," and she said, "I am not talking to you, I am talking to the cat." She is doing this to piss me off and I am ready to walk out of this house and not come back.
