Is anyone else down here?
I also happen to be directly in the path of Hurricane (Tropical Storm?) Fay. That's one heck of an initiation, I think.

Posted: 8/17/08 at 7:53pmDon't worry, I happen to be traveling Northward the day it's supposed to hit my town. Unfortunately, it looks to be hitting the town I'm headed to a couple of days later. But at least it won't be as strong then.

Where in Florida are you?
I'm in Cape Coral (SW Florida area)
I've been here for one year now, and this will be my first hurricane (and it's the first week of school too... bleh) and I don't have plans to evacuate right now. They're predicting a storm that may barely reach Category 1.

I'm in Central Florida. I've lived here for 8 years now.
I'm (as well as a bunch of my friends) totally excited for this storm. Not thrilled for the damage and trouble it causes people, but this is not going to be a huge storm and we always need the rain (and maybe no school?!).
And this is NOTHING compared to Fall 2004. We had Charley, Frances, and Jean all hit right after another. That was madness for weeks!
But good luck to you!

Wilton Manors (Fort Lauderdale area)
Good luck to everyone about to be hit by Fay (including me).
Fay!!! Who names these things?
re: I've Moved to Florida#10
Posted: 8/18/08 at 8:20amI'm in the Lauderdale area too. As of right now, this storm isn't supposed to be that bad. Some wind and lots of rain.

So my county (Brevard) is in state of emergency and there are places with up to 20 inches of rain!
I've NEVER seen a storm like this. School has been canceled for 3 days and might be canceled for Friday as well.
Luckily, I'm a little more north than most of the terrible flooding areas, but a lot of my friends already have flood damage and their driveways and roads are lakes.
Anyone else going through tough times here in Florida?

Posted: 8/20/08 at 3:33pmYikes! I'm sorry to hear that. I got a lot of rain and wind, but luckily no flooding.

I'm here in Melbourne and I'm officially sick of all this rain! All the roads by my house are flooded and I'm basically trapped inside. The lake behind my house has never been as high as it is now, not even during '04.
Cabin fever is definitely setting in.

Yeah, Sarasota seems artsy.
We got missed by the tropical storm (I don't think it even became a hurricane) entirely. Very lucky.
