I watched it live, then on tape.
It sounded better on TV. From the moment she stepped on stage (before the camera panned to her) she seemed off.

Posted: 8/5/05 at 3:38pmShe was just tired---all the people in the shows bust their butts in the weeks leading up to the Tonys b/c it seems like there is always a tony voter in the audience not to mention all the lunches etc. They knew she was tired and offered her a click track but she didn't take it--you have to give her credit for that.

Who wouldn't be nervous performing on the Tonys?? She was obviously nervous.
Same thing with Christina Applegate this year. Her performance on the Tonys was.... well. Then I saw her in the Theatre and I was like WOW. She was totally different.

Posted: 8/5/05 at 4:03pmI thought Idina did a good job at the Tony's. She did look tired and she had problems staying in tune during the notes at the end of Defying Gravity, but I thought it was good. Much better at the Gershwin, but I enjoyed her performance.

She was much better when I saw her at the Gershwin.
Live performances....sometimes you are just off.
Just a shame that is was in front of such a large crowd and on television.

Posted: 8/5/05 at 4:28pmIdina is known to get nervous. I mean she looked nervous performing dueing the Today Show with the whole Rent cast. It wasn't her best perforamce Tony night, but most people knew what was was capable of.

She was tired, extremely nervous, and nervousness makes your voice come across shakey, and she really didn't hit a right note the whole night. But we love her anyway . . . I'm a huge wicked fan as you all know, and if i wasnt and saw that i would be like, "What? Pay $100 to see her scream?!" But, I heart idina.
And it was infront of a veryt large audience, and was live across America! She's allowed to be nervous!

I can't believe we are still talking about this.
She was out of tune, gasping for air, and screaming.

The heat is getting to a lot of people. My doctor's office was full. The nurse told me this summer every other patient is coming in with respiratory issues.

Posted: 8/6/05 at 12:05amBecause I like these posts. Idena won a Tony for a Broadway performance as a leading actress. She was not perfect on National television, but damn my family watches it regularly!
