What would've been sung instead?
I'm sure we would have heard "Send in the Clowns" from someone.
Someone would have probably done something from "Dick Tracey" because it doesn't sound like something from Musical Theatre.
Syesha might have done a cute "You Could Drive a Person Crazy".
And Someone might have done "Being Alive".
I have to admit, I haven't watched a single other episode this season, but just based on what I see on Youtube...
David Cook - Marry Me a Little
Carly Smithson - A Boy Like That or Another Hundred People
David Archuleta - Johanna
Brooke White - Nothing, ideally. Sooner or Later, perhaps?
Jason Castro - Our Time? I don't know.
Syesha Mercado - Could I Leave You or The Story of Lucy and Jessie
Good thinking! "Another Hundred People" would have been a great song from one of those girls (or guys) to sing!

They butchered most of the Webber songs, so if they were to do a Sondheim week, I wouldn't watch it.
Nah, they did pretty good.
America would have been left collectively scratching their heads.
Plus, you need actors who understand nuance to sing Sondheim, not these kids wouldn't know subtlety if it bit them on their asses.
Considering Jason Castro's pick this week, he'd probably go for "The Last Midnight" or "Rose's Turn." And then after meeting with Sondheim he'd bat his eyes guiltily and say, "When I picked it, I didn't know it was supposed to be sung well."

I'm with tazber. Sondheim requires the ability to actually inhabit a song into order to properly sell it. Plus, imagine them all futzing with the songs to make them their own? Dawg? That in itself would be frightening enough.
I think Sondheim would cry. I would too. If they are that bad with Webber... Eek!
If they tried to do Sondheim I think they'd all end up in a big heap at the bottom of the stage and somehow one of them would catch on fire. I don't know how it would happen, it just would.
