Interesting read. According to the AK Independence Party site, first among their stated goals is: To effect full compliance with the constitutions of the United States of America and the State of Alaska.

There's also a note on the home page stating that Sarah Palin was never a member (altho she appeared at a convention while stumping for Gov and gave an intro on a DVD), and that, altho Todd was a member, he never attended any activities except for one convention.

First of all, Olberman is a Grade-A pompous ass. Second, that video is untrue. Factcheck.org:

"She was never a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a group that wants Alaskans to vote on whether they wish to secede from the United States. She’s been registered as a Republican since May 1982."

But let's just settle something: even if this WAS true, why would this be any worse than Obama having ties to a DOMESTIC TERORRIST and a RACIST PASTOR? Why does nobody on the left seem towant to discuss any of those ties and the questionable judgement it suggests? I really am curious. Can we have a civil debate about these questions without it getting ugly?

The ties Sarah Palin has to Pastor Muthee and The Alaskan Independence Party are so much closer to the ties that Obama has to Ayers. The evidence is right there. I do not believe that Barack Obama is "palling around" with a domestic terrorist as Sarah Palin claims he has done. It is Sarah Palin, who in bad taste, desperation and no facts, is slinging this **** around. In other words, she started it, and Obama isn't the one doing the retaliating.

Verynewyorkcurious, that sounds pretty Cut-N-Dry to me.

I just don't understand how anyone Dem or Repub can't see that Sarah Palin is a NUTBAG. Even if she wasn't in that particular organization, her husband was, shouldn't that at least raise an eyebrow or two...or a BILLION?

Well, thanks for some legit responses. The point is, her husband being in that prganization HAS reaised eyebrows. I'm not defending that. But it bothers me that Dems aren't troubled at ALL by Obama not "palling around" with a domestic terrorist, but giving speeches with him and spending time at his home and exhanching money for each others endevors. And the angry RACIST rants of Obama's pastor trouble me FAR more than Muthee. Yeah, it's all well and good for Obama to disown him after 20 years, that doesn't change the fact that he was a "mentor" and part of Obamas life for such a long time. I'm still trying to figure out why this isn't troubling to any Democrat. For the record, I still don't know who I am voting for, because issues with both candidates trouble me so much.

Oh, and O'Reilly may be pompous, but at least his show TRIES to give both sides of most issues, which is more than Olbermann's show does.
