Has anybody else tried to put Jose''s name in the Ignore Board Users column? All I want is to make him and his posts non-existent in my universe because you know, life's too short to read his posts LOL. But when I try to do it both message boards disappear. Could somebody else try it and see what happens?

he and he alone controls the fate of the two boards. without jose' there is no board.

It's true, he is all powerful. I just tried it, not because I personally have anything against jose and want to block him but, just to see what happened. Both boards deleted completely

I think that is very curious. What's the tech support phone number around here? 1-800-NOJOSE'?

Namo, stop playing drama queen and presenting yourself as the poor victim.

You've been saying for several days now that you intend to block me. Just do it.

There is no technical problem. When the screen goes blank and everything disappears just right click on the screen and "refresh." If that doesn't bring the page back (minus me) then close your browser and relog onto the site. I've asked RobD to check this out so that you can get your wish fulfilled. How more helpful can I be on this?

Just do it and move on.

Cheers! Jose'

P.S. RobD got back to me and you are right, Namo! There IS a technical glitch which my accent marks creates preventing you from blocking me. LOL. I encouraged Rob to do his best to prioritize a solution so that you can move on.

Cheers!

P.P.S. Unlike like you I have no problem saying I'm wrong when proven to be.

RobD did his magic--that guy is great!! He informed me that my accent mark will no longer be a stumbling block for you.

Before you banish me to the world of non-existence please know that my offer of a few weeks ago to buy you a drink or two and bury the hatchets still stands. If you're ever ready to get past your emotions and behave like a grown-up let me know. Actually the offer is only good a limited time. So hurry!

Cheers!

question: if i ignore everyone on the board, will i just be talking to myself? and, if so, how will that differ from my everyday life??

What if you ignore someone and later they are the perfect match for the kidney you need due to years of drug abuse? You'd have to hope they were very forgiving!

Blocking is just admitting defeat. If you don't like someone, then just don't read their posts.

No, it's not admitting defeat, it's making the board more enjoyable for yourself. You've been here long enough to know it's not always as easy as not reading their posts when someone targets you. It's hard to not read someone's posts when they insist on going into every thread and making a comment.

I was in the situation, there is someone who I just can't stand based on the persons treatment of other people and so I chose not to read any of this person's threads and never interacted with them. Out of nowhere, for no reason that I could ever fathom, I suddenly had this person making remarks about me in threads, taunting me and going into every thread where I post something for the sole reason of fighting with me. I finally put the person on ignore and it's as if they don't exist.

It's a much better solution than arguing online and bothering the others who just want to enjoy thier time here. There seems to be more ignoring going on lately and it's obvious, there are not as many fights that drag on for months.

ignore That is true about the ones who insist on continuing the annoyances. It's really a shame that it even has to come down to blocking. I've personally never blocked anyone, even if I have become annoyed with them; but lucily it never got to that level where I felt I had to...and I hope it never does.

Well, in the time I've been posting here, which has been about a year, I've only felt the need to do that once. It seems that with most people, if you don't interact them, they just leave you alone. Not responding and not interacting is always my first choice. Unfortunately, when someone decides they have some sort of grudge and you refrain from answering them and they continue to harass you, blocking becomes the only option.

Question...if some one blocks you, does it mean that you can't read that person's posts either? Or did melb4ever just go away?

I'm pretty sure it only blocks you from seeing posts and receiving messages from the people you have listed as blocked. They can still see your posts.

Blocking works like this:

When you block some from the message board, you are no longer be able to see/read any posts they make, whether they create a post or are adding to an existing one. They can however continue to read your posts.

If someone blocks you, your posts will not be visible to them. You can continue to read their posts.

Blocking a PM results in the user you block not being able to send a PM to you.

Hope that helps.

Seems like some of the blocking is taking place when people are simply bored by post(er)s rather than offended. A lot of the heated political debates have actually been more respectful of late. But perhaps there is more blocking, because increasingly, threads seem to lack the "build" -- the back/forth dynamic -- they used to have.

Though it's sometimes more painful to be ignored than actively dissed -- turning us into FATAL ATTRACTION types, in effect waiting by a phone that refuses to ring -- this is one place you don't have to answer nobody unless so moved.

since i have most of you people on ignore i have to depend on the kindness of strangers to cut and paste what has actually been said and email it to a third party who prints them out and faxes them to my neightbor who calls my wife and reads them to her and if mrs. mambo sees fit she tells me what's going on here. this is how i know that i should lash out at auggie for an outburst that may or may not have happened within the last week and may or may not be related to ignoring board members. thus i say with full ferocity to auggie, "ninny ninny ninny whoop whoop woo to both you and the horse you rode in on!"
