My company is a member of an outfit called Club Quarters.
I satyed in NYC about two months ago, Friday and Saturday night and it was $80 a night.. near Rockefeller Center.
BUT, your company has to be a member.
I highly reccomend the Milford Plaza. It ain't the Waldorf, but it's clean and friendly and right in the heart of the Theatre district! I had a great time staying there, and I think it only cost me $60 a night?

Don't know if that works for you, but it is cheap.

I second the Milford. For the price and location, you can't beat it.
Also, I've heard that you can get a room at area YMCA's, but they are usually filled with guys who are on the prowl for..........

There's a Comfort Inn on West 71st just off CPW for about $100/night.
My partner and I have an Aero mattress available. And, no, I'm not at all interested in anything more. I'm simply a hospitable guy.
p.s. There are also the Beacon Hotel on B'way about 74th Street, The Olcott on W. 72nd Street, and another on W. 81st St. between CPW and Columbus whose rates are below $100/night. All very clean and decent hotels.

Based on your past interactions, I can only bet that Matt will be staying on your aero matress, Jose'.

Thank you all for your PM's. I was able to book a room for $70 a night. Nothing special, but it's fine for me.

MimiChica, did you have a special connection or discount to get that rate at the Milford? Published rates are a lot higher. Sometimes hotels.com have it for about $100, but I've never seen it for less. Not a great hotel, but the lodging is the killer on the trips to NY. I like it to be convenient but it sure does add up after a few days. Show tickets I can accept, and with the discounts am usually pretty happy, but the hotel rates just make me die!!

Matt, You're welcome.
Nuggets, I don't take seriously. It's a message board, not life.

The Comfort Inn at 71st has the tiniest rooms I have ever seen.
I like the Portland Square on 47th between 6th and 7th. The corner rooms at the end of the hall facing 47th are nice and roomy.
Matt;
Checkout the Marcel Hotel. It is on 24th street near 3rd avenue. Very nice, clean, quiet, boutique hotel. Usually Expedia has the best rates for it.
If you book far enough in advance and can get a discount on "Paint the Town", you can get a studio at the Radio City Apartments for $99 a night. It's the best deal. Kitchenette included. Great location at 49th near 7th.

The Excelsior is the hotel on W81 Street opposite the Rose Planaterium at the Museum of Natural History, it's between CPW & Columbus Avenue.
For anyone visiting NYC who is comfortable leaving the confines of the Times Square-Radio City midtown area, the hotels on the upper west side offer very large rooms for low dollars.
The Excelsior, W. 81 Street
The Olcott, W. 72 Street, one building away from The Dakota
The Beacon, Broadway, between 74 & 75th Streets
All great areas to experience a bit of living in NYC, and you're only 1 or 2 subway stops away from the theatre district.

Those are in my guidebook, too!
Drop me a PM for locations and I'll tell you who to ask for which will entitle you for very special rates.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Matt, when are you coming here? Will you be at the Milford? If so, please avoid going to the "book and video store" directly across 8th Avenue from there between the hour of 11 p.m. and midnight on Saturday night. I would not want you to run into, umm, a friend of mine (yeah! that's it!) who frequents that place at that hour.

If you want to stay in midtown, don't overlook the Super 8 Times Square on 46th btwn 5th and 6th Aves. Yes, it's a Super 8, but it's much nicer than you would expect, and for the price (<$80 during low season), you can't go wrong. PLUS it includes continental breakfast AND free internet access downstairs, equip w/ printer and then you can post on here and tell us how the shows were!
Ha! I wish there was time for shows.
You're going to NYC and NOT going to any shows?
