Panel to make recommendation to Legislature on Oct. 20
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) | Oct 4, 4:18 PM
An interim legislative committee is considering a bill that would prohibit gays, lesbians and single people in Indiana from using medical science to assist them in having a child.
that's BULL****ING****!

I SWEAR it gets scarier and scarier. And I am losing ALL patience with those who want to rationalize and justify any of it!
Thank you, I now know what the topic for my column will be next week.
Personally, I'm the most outraged by the single parents aspect. Not only is this insulting to people who are already single parents (about 10% of families in the US are single parent households due to divorce and death of a spouse) and they are doing just fine raising their children. This is saying that single people that are obviously planning and have carefully considered having a child are incapable of providing for a child. You know, unlike the married couples that pop fertility drugs like candy, then end up having sextuplets they have to provide for with only a high school diploma and a minimum wage job.
wow. I really can't believe that. The nerve of some people.
I can't imagine how that could possibly stand.
get out your pink triangles people.....next step, is rounding us up and putting us in camps.....
and TRUST ME....this faggot will NOT go quietly........
Elphaba, that post with that av - PRICELESS!

This is just silly nonsense that could not pass even a rational basis constitutional standard.
I envision many roadtrips to Illinois to take advantage of the fetility clinics and sperms banks here.
Where does it stop? CHEMICAL CASTRATION?
lol rath, I just looked and realized that.........somehow I also see Mrs. Slocombe there with Hyacinth, also saying 'And we are UNANIMOUS in that!"
hehehe
Yet another reason why the power of the Republican party must be destroyed.
You know, science fiction writers were WARNING us, not giving us blueprints of what the future should look like.

PJ - from the dictionary:
implosion - a sudden inward collapse
I am reading An End to Evil at the moment, as a counterbalance in my class on Justice and World Order. I believe Frum and Pearle did indeed read Orwell and say, "Man wouldn't it be great if everything was like that."
Implode republicans, implode away.
This Indiana thing is just too much for me.
Its just another right wing republican spouting their hate. Unfortunately it makes me hate too. People like State Sen. Patricia Miller need to be stopped any way possible.

I am assuming that even in Indiana this bill will not make it out of Committee.

brd - it's not so much its viability that concerns and saddens me, it's the fact that it's even conceived.

Dg, I agree. This is an attack on the privacy of all!
Beautiful Elphaba! I don't think this would pass anyways---the Supreme Court would overturn it.
Sounds like something Dan Quayle would do!
I don't even know what to say. To even consider this is such an expression of hate and intolerance that it boggles the mind.
I guess a single person, or a gay couple, who will spend thousands of dollars just for the chance to raise a child really are not the right folks to be parents {sarcasm} . . .
It used to be that Republicans were for getting government out of your life, about limiting government's role in business. Now, they are all about using government to legislate their values and morality, imposing their beliefs in the population. The same thing is happening with a case before the Supreme Court, for Dr. Assisted Suicide passed in Oregon. The Federal Government is imposing on state's rights to impose Bush's morality on states. http://www.csmonitor.com/2005/0223/p02s02-usju.html
The should cause further fractions in the Republican party - true Republicans vs. those religious fanatics hiding in Republican clothing.
Good Lord, that's scary! I seriously doubt it will get far, but just the thought of it is frightening.
I couldnt let this one go...
"Ms. Sentator,
I am disgusted that in 2005 there is any discussion of denying rights for Americans and curtailing their freedoms.
Is your implication with this legislation that those who already have children that would not have been concieved without these rights are unfit? If that is your view you should say it out loud and advocate that these children are endangered and should be taken away from these parents. Otherwise you are being a hypocrite.
Your hate mongering attempt at legislating these rights is something that will resonate so far as to ruin the America your grandchildren grow up in. Eventually only blonde, blue eyed pretty people will be able to use these methods of assistance. That's what Hitler would've wanted...is that your idea of America?
"...all the studies indicate the best environment for a child is to have a two-parent family — a mother and a father." - Senator Miller
-this is a false statement as there is no proper study to back it up.
Beyond all of this, I am most distressed that you would have the nerve to include a requirement that a couple ALSO prove that they belong to a church. Is Indiana part of the United States or did you all secede without anyone noticing? Until you do, you really should work by our rules:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."
May God have mercy on you."

That's nuts! Indiana is chock full o' 'mos! What the f? Indianapolis alone has a huge gay population, and even small cities in Indiana have gay clubs, I've bene there. I got some in Ft Wayne, Bloomington, and Indianapolis!
