The best version of "You're Gonna Hear From Me" is this one, by Marilyn Maye:

Posted: 4/8/13 at 4:40pmI think for a Broadway musical, the story would need some reshaping. Isn't this the movie where Robert Redford leaves her in a dumpy motel room? That seemed to come out of nowhere and end up nowhere. Some parts of the script just seem jumpy and don't flow with the story arc.

The libretto would go back to the Herman Wouk novel.

Thank you for the lovely auto-biography, PJ, and what a wonderful reunion gift!
I trust you didn't end as sadly as Marjorie strikes me at the end of the book. But maybe we're only seeing her through the eyes of the "one who got away".

The libretto would go back to the Herman Wouk novel.
Herman Wouk wrote MARJORIE MORNINGSTAR. Gavin Lambert wrote INSIDE DAISY CLOVER. Gothampc was referring to a stage version of CLOVER.

A huge Influence on me as a child..
Do you remember the “looping scene” at the end.
Well. The windows of my garage had a very similar look to it. Lot’s of glass…In a child’s mind, it could easily pass for a recording studio.
My father had enormous short wave radio earphones and I would borrow them and enact the scene over and over again…including the breakdown...the snapping of the fingers...The screaming ..the throwing myself at the glass…
One summer it aired, and after it was over, I immediately headed straight to my garage with those earphones and started enacting the scene..
However, I had failed to notice my Mother was about 15 feet from the garage talking to our neighbor, Wanda Budnyck..
Wanda was practically rolling in our driveway from laughter at the sight of a 7 year old having a nervous breakdown while singing “ The circus is a wacky world”….over and over…
…and my Mother screamed at me “Oh for god’s sake – YOU ARE NOT NATALIE WOOD!”..
Truer words were never spoken..
Lovely story Joey..btw..

^ Me? I just hopped on stars, slid down moons, tossed and juggled planets all the while floating in mid-air and belting out: "YOU'RE GONNA HEEEEEAAAAR FROOOOOM MEEEEEE!!!"
