has anyone else watched this fascinating documentary on the rise, decline and second coming of a new york landmark?
it was on for the first time a few days ago and there's an encore on december 14 at 9 p.m. EST on the national geographic channel.
the special also talks about grand central's crosstown rival, pennsylvania station, and how the beautiful building was lost forever when madison square garden was built on top of that structure in the 60s. the one good thing that came out of the destruction of penn station was the movement to preserve landmark buildings in nyc.
check it out on wednesday if you have not seen it yet.
Inside Grand Central
this is my favorite structure in new york city. thank you mrs. onassis.
if only they had known earlier about penn station, maybe mrs. O could have saved that too!
I pretty much LIVE in Grand Central. I especially hate when I work late on Sunday nights and have to wait close to an hour for a train home, and they won't let you sit on the stairs. You have to sit on the dirty floor or stand the whole time so you don't block the stairs for the three other people there at 1:15 on a Sunday night/Monday morning.
*still tired*
"I pretty much LIVE in Grand Central."
and here i thought they eradicated the homeless problem in the 80s...
There are no original jokes left on BWW...
