On their site it reads, NO SPYWARE, NO ADWARE, NO TROJAN HORSE. For those who have used it, is this true? Have any of you had problems with it?

Downloading music online without paying for it is illegal.

When the cops bust down your door, handcuff and spank you...don't come posting on this board in a rant about it...uh-uh.

Don't...wanna...hear...it.

Silly law-breakers. Tsk-tsk.

But, yeah, Limewire is good.

LIMEWIRE KILLED MY COMPUTER!!!

I used Limewire for a long time.
Then, I stopped downloading music illegally, seeing the error of my ways.
7 months later, my computer completely died and erased itself.
I asked why, why had this happened?

It was because all those months before, I had downloaded incomplete and corrupted files off of Limewire that ate away at my harddrive.

I starred in a short film called Magnetic Personality. Check it out!

LImewire uses a different system of file sharing/transferring than Napster. Currently, Limewire is NOT considered illegal.
Just FYI. There is a time where it could be made illegal, but not yet.
There is a difference.
That said, I was always told LImewire was good and safe. Check VERY carefully as to the type of file you are about to download and its size. I have finally cleared all the spyware off of my computer and, for the first time in a long time, have absolutely no popups.

DAME:
You wrote this on my thread...
"He is telling you not to be stupid and post about limewire ( downloading illegally) on a public board where everyone can read about it."

Who the hell do you think you are calling me stupid on a public board? You don't know my motives for the question nor will I stoop to your level and defend myself to you. And for your information, Limewire is NOT ILLEGAL! Check your facts before you go calling people names. How one USES Limewire is another thing. I may own a gun, which is perfectly legal. Using that gun to rob a bank is not.
Don't presume to know me or why I have asked a question.

Technically you need a permit to own a gun. Otherwise, it is illegal.

Downloading songs for freee is illegal. No matter how you do it.

P.S. - not to get in the middle of a feude - but it is stupid to post about such things.

But no one of you here knows why I am asking this question. BELIEVE it OR NOT, I have no intention of downloading songs. I will tell you this much. It is about a co-worker that I stuck my neck out to get him a job. I recently found out that has been downloading "stuff" from Limewire. I don't know what. BUT my concern, is that he's going to mess up our system at work. BUT he assures me that there's no reason for concern, because Limewire has no adware, etc...

THAT'S what my question was/is about. And yes, I get upset with people that assume they know why I'm asking or assume they know my intentions.

So, it's OK to say that your "co-worker" is downloading illegaly?

Well, why nto call the cops right here and now?

Anyway, maybe saying that in your first post would have lessened the harsh words...

Yes, Thenardier, my "co-worker" is downloading at work. I saw no reason to go into details in the OP.

Oh, and by the way, Limewire has been discussed on these boards before. I did a search before I posted, but none of the posts answered my questions so I posted my own.

Yet NYBroadwayNY is correct: Limewire as a program is completely legal -- it is, in fact, a bourgeoning business.

It is what you do with the program that may be illegal. But owning the program and asking questions about Limewire on a public board is completely legal, and in fact there are hundreds of reputable bulletin boards on the Web that discuss Limewire and other P2P clients.
