Is Ted Cruz a natural-born citizen eligible to serve as president?

Excerpt from the online article:
"For Senator Cruz—who was born in Calgary, Alberta, to an American mother and a Cuban father—the question is more complicated. There is a strong argument that anyone who acquires United States citizenship at birth, whether by virtue of the 14th Amendment or by operation of federal statute, qualifies as natural born. The Supreme Court, however, has never ruled on the meaning of the natural-born citizenship requirement. In the absence of a definitive Supreme Court ruling—or a constitutional amendment—the parameters of the clause remain uncertain."

Yes, just as Obama would be if he had been born in Kenya (which he wasn't). If one is American by birth, than one is a natural-born citizen of the U.S.. It would also likely explain how Mitt Romney's father, born in Mexico, ran for president without any objection.

But if you think that will stop them you don't know the Republican party! After all, after an election where they relentlessly attacked the democratic nominee for his "inexperience" they selected VP Candidate who had the flimsiest resume in electoral history and touted her "executive experience" with a straight face.

John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone, which at the time was a United States Territory. Let's not forget, as you say.
Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.
