I used to like Koontz, but his books are all the same after a few.
When he gets in a groove though I do like his writing style.
Still just a poor man's King though.
I LOVE Koontz. His book LIGHTNING is my all time favorite book and ODD THOMAS is high up there. I agree that his books tend to get a little repetitive, but when they are are good, they are GOOD!
I like Stephen King, but his books are so drawn out. He can easily get the story across in about 300 pages, so why does he do 600? Although, THE TALISMAN is one of my favorite books.
you guys should try lee child.
I just looked him up -- I may give them a try but to be honest it's not generally the style of book I would be attracted to -- the lions share of my reading is academic...so when I read for enjoyment I tend to seek out humor.
A book I love that kinda has a cultish folowing is The Secret History by Donna Tartt.
My wife love the OUTLANDER series. I might have to pick that up. I LOVE time travel/historical type books.
i like my sci-fi or vampire/witch/werewolf books. i can't help it. if you like those, i have lots of authors for you to read.
I wouldn't mind reading a good vampire/werewolf type book. But, I am letting you know up front that I am not a big fan of romance stuff (and the only reason why I mention this, is because a lot of vampire books have a very strong romantic leaning).
No, sex is great!
Like with BUFFY, it had romantic elements with Angel and such, but it was not ALL there was to the series. I mean, some romance is fine, but I don't like the whole book to be about it.
A couple weeks ago my kid bought the movie Fight Club -- so yesterday I just decided to read it again since it's been over a decade.... I almost forgot how much I loved it.
then read the anita blake series by laurell k. hamilton. she's a vampire hunter. the first one is guilty pleasures.
Actually, her books have been at the back of mind to pick up. Are they good?
About the romance thing . . . it's weird that I like THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE so much, because it is a VERY romantic book. But, it's brilliantly written. **Sigh**
You can give me a good romance anytime -- if it was penned by Jane Austen.
i love her books dj. and i'm NOT a romance fan either. but after the anita series, she a has a faerie series (they're dark faeries). both are good. the faerie series is pretty much all sex. but it's good.
I need to start readeing for fun again, my senior year has ruined that for me.
